The bell rung. Everyone stood up and ran out the class. "Finally," the chemistry teacher said and walked out the class. I put all my stuff in my backpack. I looked up at Luke. He was staring at me. I turned around but he grabbed my hand."So you're trying to get rid of me, huh?" He said. "No, I just don't want to sit next to you anymore," I said and turned back around. He grabbed me again.
"You know you liked the kiss," he smirked. I looked in his eyes, "you seriously changed, didn't you?"He chuckled, "So you did like the kiss?"
"I never said that," I stated. "But, you also never said you didn't like it," he said. I shrugged, "guess I didn't."
His lips curled into a smile. I turned around and walked out the class. Did I just flirt back with him? Shit.
"There you are!" I heard, suddenly. I remembered about the Friday Free Day thing. I saw Kelsey walk up to me. Jacob had his arm around her. "Here I am," I smiled. "Where were you?" Kelsey asked. I would have told her what happened. But...Jacob was there. And he was kind of part of the football team like Luke, and they used to be very good friends. I don't know if they tell each other everything or not.
"I had to catch up on some things that I missed in class," I lied. Kelsey gave me that face she always would give me in middle school when she knew I was lying. Jacob seemed to buy it though.
"Hey Leah, how about we go to the shaved ice concession stand by the office?" Kelsey asked. "Uh-"
"Great!" She grabbed my hand and pulled me.
•
"You kissed?!"
"Kels, shhh!" I exclaimed. "Wow..." she said, looking down. Her eyebrows were raised. She almost looked too surprised. "What?" I asked, confused. "I don't know. It's weird. If we were in middle school, I would have squealed and congratulated you. But High school changed him, you know? He's not the same. He's now a big player and a fuck boy and-"
"I know. I get it. I'm stupid-"
"No! Leah, you're not stupid! Don't say that! I know how it feels when your crush tried to kiss you. You can't stop it-"
"He's not my crush, I-"
"Don't lie to yourself, L, you know you still feel the same for him. You're still in love." She said.
"I wouldn't say 'in lo-"
I stopped as she gave me the "you really think I was born yesterday?' Look.
I groaned and buried my face into my hands. "I'm sorry. I'm messed up. Maybe I should just go back to Ohio. I-"
"No! You're not messed up and you're not going back to Ohio. You just feel dumb because of a stupid kiss that won't ever repeat again, okay? It's not your fault. He was making it hard for you. Now all you have to do is ignore him," she said.
"Okay," I nodded.
We smiled at each other. "Let's go have some fun, k?" She said. I nodded and we both left the restroom

The school bell rang. I finished my soda and threw it away. Kelsey grabbed my wrist as we both laughed like hyper little 4-year-olds.
She pulled me back inside the building. "How about we go get ice cream?" She asked. "Si, porfavor" ("yes, please").
We both continued laughing. "Hold on, let me go get my phone from my locker," I told her, trying to catch some air after the hysteric laugh we had just had.
She nodded, "just text me when you're done. I'm going to get my car," she said. I nodded and she left. I went to my locker and opened it. There was a teddy bear in it. I grabbed it and saw a note on it. I read it.
Come to the janitors room for your phone.
;)
I looked to see that my phone wasn't there.
What the-
I ran to the nearest janitors room. I opened it and saw Luke. He had my phone in his hand. "Luke, give it back," I said. He looked at me and smirked. "Did you like the bear?" He asked. I rolled my eyes, "how did you know my locker combination?"
"Remember middle school? When you told me you've always wanted your locker combination to be 131618?" He asked. "You remembered that?" I asked. He nodded, "my brain is very good with remembering stuff."
I sighed, "just give me my phone back."
"Okay," he stuck his hand out. I grabbed my phone but he managed to catch my hand in his hand. He
pulled me towards him and then he pushed me against the wall. I looked at him as he leaned in pretty close to my face."Now," he slightly smiled, "where'd we leave off in chem class?"
He looked at my lips, "oh, right."
I pushed him off just as I felt his bottom lip touch mine. "No!" I said. "Come on, princess-"
"Don't call me that. Go kiss one of your hoes. I'm done with you, and I regret ever even meeting you."
He looked at me. He looked shocked, disappointed, angry...it was weird. I suddenly saw how bad my words hit him. "L-Luke, I-I really didn't-"
"No. I get it. You moved on. I guess you're right, maybe I am just a player and maybe middle school was stupid...and I know I fucked up for talking
shit about you, but everything I said was a lie. And-" he sighed, looked down, and then back at me, "you'll never get how much I-I-how much I..."I looked at him. He seemed to be nervous. He sighed and looked me in the eyes. "How much I-I love...you."
I felt like my insides had just blown up. My heart was beating too fast. Could he hear it?
He still looked hurt. He looked at the floor and then at me. He walked past me and grabbed the door knob. I wanted to stop him. I was gonna stop him. But...I didn't.
I stood there. He was already out of the room. I was alone. I have to stop him. I quickly opened the door. He was gone.
I felt like crying. I wish I could tell him that...
I loved him, too.
