Got the news today but they said I had a stay.
A little bit longer and I'll be fine.As I laid down in this bed I could hear the bickering of others around me. My eyes were shut and I felt a strange feeling that I wasn't in my room. I could feel the needles pressed into my skin on my arms. Am I at a hospital? I felt a little scared to open my eyes to see if I'm right. After a few moments I gathered my strength and opened them to find out I was right. I looked at my surroundings and saw my family in the room. My mom and dad holding hands as if they're in prayer. My brother Kevin fast asleep in a chair and beside him was Joe playing on his phone. There was also a girl I've never seen before.
What the hell happened? It felt like I was in The Twilight Zone. The last thing I remember was being kissed by someone then it all went black. How long have I been here? These were questions I tried to sit up but knocked over a cup of water beside me in the process. Joe looked up at me with the biggest smile I've ever seen. He rushed straight to me and grabbed my hands.
"Oh my God you're awake!" As he said that I felt eyes starting to look at me. Before I knew it everybody came rushing to my side. My mom was crying as she took ahold of the hand Joe was holding. Kevin and my dad just hugged each other with tears of happiness. Ruining the moment I had to ask why I'm here and what happened.
"What happened?" I asked with my eyes fixed on this unknown girl that's standing beside my parents. Boy, was she beautiful.
"Honey, you've been in a diabetic coma for three years," my mom finally explained. Three years?! I've been gone for three years? My hands trembled as my brother held it tighter.
"We're glad you're back though. You haven't missed much besides your song going platinum," Joe said with a crocked smile on his face. My song went platinum? What song? There on the wall hung a picture frame with, "A Little Bit Longer" written inside. Looking at it made me feel a little bit better. It's nice to see a song that means so much to me finally getting it's share in the world. My eyes crept back onto the girl with the beautiful smile, smiling at me.
"Who's she?" I asked thinking it might be Joe's girlfriend. He always gets the good ones before I could even stand a chance. The girl with dark skin and hair stepped forward slightly touching my hand which gave me butterflies.
"My name is Desiree," she responded with the cutest smile I've ever seen. My dad stepped in by saying,
"She's a friend that came into our lives two years ago." I heard a buzz from a phone near by. Joe grabbed his cell phone.
"I have to take this, it's my girlfriend. I have to tell her you're awake," Joe said while leaving the room. Bingo, she's single. Now's my chance to let her into my world. My parents and Kevin started for the door. Before exiting my mom said,
"We're going to get the doctor. I'll leave you two alone for a bit."
Yes, my mom knows me best! I patted the side of the bed and Desiree took a seat.
"Wow, aren't you beautiful," I gushed not knowing my hand was on her leg. She looked down and laughed.
"My, do you bounce back quickly," was her reply. Something about her made me feel at ease. I'm not one to ask some random girl I just met to be my girlfriend, but she's different. It feels as if I already know everything about her. I did something I never do and kissed her tender lips. Sparks flew as she leaned more into this kiss. I pulled away with a sappy smile on my face. It felt so natural, as if I've known her for three years.
