Chapter 22

Kevin's POV

As I was driving down this dark freeway I decided to go to Nick's. You know, to check on him. Once I reached his apartment room I noticed the door wide open.

"Nick?" I asked while walking in. I quietly shut the door be hide me. "Nick are you home?" I continued to walk around the apartment. I check the bathroom noticing the light was on. I peaked my head inside and saw no one. I turned off the light and shut the door. I made my way to his room. As I walked in I saw a black figure laying on the ground. Turning on the light I saw Joe laying sideways with a empty pill bottle in his right hand. This couldn't be happening! I rushed to his side and took the empty bottle. I saw it Shay's sleeping medication. I instantly started to panic. I have no idea how many pills were in there nor how many he took. I quickly grabbed my phone to called Nick. No answer. So I tried Shay and Des. No answer. My wife didn't even answer her phone. Out of all nights! Why did this have to be the night everyone decided to silent their phone? I placed my hand in his forehead. It was cold. I started to shake him.

"Come on Joe stop messing around. You're playing a prank on me right? Okay, you won. You can wake up now...please..Joe?" He laid there limp. I swooped him up in my arms. "You can't fucking do this to me Joe. This isn't funny! This is really starting to get fucked up. Open your eyes! Let me know you can hear me! Joseph!" My voice started to tremble. My hands shook as I held him. I then grabbed the bottle and ran him to the car.

Nick's POV

I looked down at my phone and saw a missed call from Kevin. I dialed his number while my girl was hugging my other arm. I gave her a quite kiss on head.

"Hey Kev I'm sorry I missed you're- Wait what? Kevin slow down I don't understand....What do you mean he took pills?" Shay hugged my arm tighter. "Yeah we'll be right there." I swiftly hung up my phone and made a quick dash to my car. Shay ran be hide me yelling.

"Nick wait, what happened!" She screamed out. I ignore her and quickly opened her side of the door. I jumped in the drivers seat and started the car. Shay shoved herself in and grabbed my arm.

"What's going on Nick?" I looked straight ahead and floored the gas peddle.

"Joe took your medication. How much was in there?" I nervously asked.

"Uh I just got it refilled yesterday. How much did he take?"

"Kevin found it empty."

"Oh shit," she said covering her mouth.

We both ran in the hospital. I really hated being back in here. I just got out a few weeks ago. I saw Kevin and we rushed to him.

"Kevin how is he? Please tell me he's alive," I pleaded. He turned around with his eye's red as a demon's. I almost jumped when I saw it. His bottom lip quivered as he spoke.

"They're pumping his chest right now..I..I don't know if he's alive. They hadn't said anything. Where the hell were you?!" He shouted at me. I looked at him surprised.

"I was out with-"

"Of course you were out with her!" He pointed at Shay. "This is all your fault! If you would've stayed with Joe, none of this would be happening right now! But no, you had to be selfish and go with Nick! You're such a bitch!" I placed my hand in front of Kevin.

"Hey! Their's no need for name calling. Even though it's partly Shannon's fault.." Oops...I didn't mean to say that. I looked down at her as tears were already falling from her eyes. Kevin's face changed once he realized what he said.

"Shannon wait!" I yelled. Kevin placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Go after her Nick. We don't know what she'll do to herself now." I made a dart run out the door. As soon as exited I got drench in rain. Really Mother Nature? Why this night? I found her sitting on the wall with her head in her hands.

"Shay, I didn't mean it. It slipped out. And Kevin didn't mean it either. We're both really scared." I grabbed ahold of her hands.

"I'm scared too, doesn't give you the right to yell at me." I sighed knowing that she's right. I grabbed her by the shoulders and helped her up.

"I'm so sor-" She interrupted me with a kiss. I'm actually starting to get annoyed by everyone interrupting me tonight. But I'll let this one slide. I broke the kiss and stared into her consent changing blue eyes.

"I've always wanted to do that in the rain," she blushed. I smirked then grabbed her hand pulling her out from the covered area. We kissed again as the rain fell. I felt a drop move down my face and stopped on our lips. We stayed like this for the next few minutes before going back inside.
