"i'm sorry, you're staying where?" kei asked.

"tannyhill." john b says.

"so, you're living with sarah cameron?" kei said.

"okay, look, the only reason i'm staying there is because her dad bailed me out, right? and it's way better than foster care, which, by the way, is where i was about to go if ward didn't—"

"hey, so, like, do you have a membership to the clubs now?" pope interrupted.

"i don't know, pope." john b said.

"what about those little golf carts they get to drive around? you get one of them?" jj said, taking a sip of maya's drink he took.

"does it come with a sweater-vest, or do you have to buy one of those on your own?" maya asked.

"look, you promised." kei says. "you said you weren't with her."

"bro, just own it. she got you." jj says.

"look, if you want to hang out with her, that's fine." kei says. "but i'm letting you know now that i'm not doing anything with sarah."

"do you guys see her here?" john b says. "no. right. okay, now a little focus would be fantastic. we've got the map, right?"

"well, it's all out of wack because the guy was ganga'd when he drew it." jj says.

"it's 'cause the coast has changed, jj." maya said.

"oh."

"so we just have to look for landmarks that haven't changed." pope says.

"what about the old forts?" john b asked.

"battery jasper." kei says.

"we're in battery. right here." pope says, putting the map down on the rock. "so if this is parcel nine, then it's somewhere northeast of here."

"somewhere over there..."

"over there?" jj asked. "guys, that's not tannyhill. that's a subdivision."

"tannyhill plantation used to be the entire island." john b said, "it got sold into smaller pieces over time."

"okay, so we're just looking for an only stone wall." pope says.

"okay, so the road should split up here." pope says from the passenger seat, "you're gonna take a left."

"hey." maya said, looking at the stonewall that appeared when they turned the corner.

"that looks like a stone wall to me." jj says.

"this is it." pope says.

"not the crain house." john b says as they got out of the van.
