"i'm so glad that they're still doing this." kei says as her, maya, jj and pope were walking to the outdoor movie. "keep calm, carry on, back to the obx life."

"you sound like a decoration a middle-aged white mom would have hung up in her house." maya said, making jj and pope stifle a laugh.

"aren't you glad i made you come?" kei asked, ignoring maya's comment.

"ecstatic." pope said, obviously unamused.

"maya's couch was pretty comfy, i'll be honest." jj said.

"just saw rafe..." kei said, coming back over with three pepsis. "he said, and i qoute, tell your boy that we know what he did. what is that?"

"um..." jj says, "where is he?"

"right there." kei says.

"great, the whole death squad, bro." pope says after turning around in his chair.

"don't stare, bro." jj said, grabbing the top of pope's head and turning it around. "just saying, bro, if they corner me, i'm coming out swinging. slice and dicin'. i'm on edge right now."

"yeah, yeah."

"if that doesn't work, i got this right here." jj held up his bag.

"yeah.. so, we just gotta stay in the group. they can't get us in the group."

"yeah, like a school of fish." jj said.

"okay, stay in the school. can't leave the school."

"i'm sorry, jj." kei muttered, "please tell me you did not bring a gun here. jj, there are kids!"

"no, kei, i didn't bring the gun. everything's fine, okay?"

"oh, wow, that's really convincing. i love that, jj." kei said.

"you all are dumbasses, i swear." maya said, tilting her head back against the leg of jj's chair from her seat on the towel, closing her eyes in disappointment.

"founding principle, you guys." kei says, "no secrets amongst pogues. what is rafe talking about?"

"kei, it might go down tonight." pope said slowly.

"what does that mean?" kei asked, "might go down tonight? what did y'all do?"

"deny, deny, deny." jj mumbled only so that pope could hear, but maya heard, too, her being closer to him.

maya had almost fell asleep watching the movie several times, it not being that interesting to her, and the fact that jj had been massaging her scalp and playing with her hair the entire time.

"jj." pope whispered.

"what?" jj said.

"i gotta take a piss."
