Two weeks later...
Rohan
I used to love going to work but now I hate it! I have to see that Devils face again and again. I can’t tell you how hard it has been to work with the devil in the past two weeks! That squeaky voice of hers giving me advice drives me nuts! When are the two years going to end!
It was finally lunchtime! I was starving like hell – when am I not? – But as soon as I reach the kitchen I see her, the devil. Why does she always have lunch at the same time as I do? We do our usual staring and smirking game – she’s picked up pretty fast, my smirk doesn’t seem to affect her anymore, but that smirk of hers really annoys me!
“Hey sir!” Karan, one of the staff members and my only “good” friend, I guess, came by. Our staring game came to an end.
“Dude how many times have I told you not to call me sir? It makes me feel old!” I said.
“Ok, Ok chill Ro.” He said, “Have you heard about the new nightclub on Kensington Road? It’s the first nightclub in England that will play Bollywood music, so technically the first Indian nightclub!” One thing you should know about Karan is that he knows about every single nightclub in the whole of England! He’s been to most in London and a couple in other cities.
“Wow! Bollywood!” and one thing you should know about me is that I love Bollywood. East or west Bollywood is the best! “Are you serious? We have to go!” I ordered.
“Omigosh! Bollywood! That’s so cool! I love Bollywood!” The Devil spoke.
“Hey lets go on Saturday! And Ria why don’t you join us? It’ll be so cool! Plus you have to see Rohan Dance! He is the god of dance!” Bigmouthed Karan spoke. Why the hell did he have to invite her? The weekend was the only time I got to stay away from her!
“If Rohan is the God of dance, Ria is the Goddess!” Alina, Karan’s – current – girlfriend and also an employee came into the kitchen. Alina and Ria had been getting along really well lately actually.
“Ro, you got competition buddy. Ria Patel, one of the top 15 dancers of New Zealand’s youth dance off.” Alina continued, “She’s not just a boring legal advisor, she’s one sassy dancer too. Have you seen her performances?”
“No.” I replied blankly.
“Then what are you doing right now? Go and search them and watch them!” She demanded! “You know what? Let’s have a dance off between Ro and Ria at the nightclub on Saturday! It’ll be so much fun!”
“No!” Both Ria and I said in sync!
“She can’t compete with me! I’m too good for her, I mean no!” I took up the opportunity to insult The devil and also decline the challenge.
“Woah! Excuse me? Did you just say I’m not good enough for you? Have you even seen me dance?” The Devil sassed back at me. “Don’t jump to conclusions so easily! I’ve got much more in me than you think I have! You know what? I’m up for this challenge; I’ll have a Dance off with you! The only question remaining is, are you up for this challenge or are you going to chicken out?” She challenged. Ok, now this was about my self-respect I am not a chicken.
“Get ready to lose” I said and gave her my evil smile and left to go back to my cabin.
I still haven’t had lunch so I grabbed my laptop and sat on the couch, I deserved a break from all the work I’d been doing since this morning. I decided to check facebook first. I logged in and checked my feed. The worst part of being a businessman is that your facebook feed is not exciting. Most of my friends were the serious type – except for Karan, I still don’t get how I he’s my best friend; I guess the quote “opposites attract” is true. Just before I logged out I saw that I had a friend request from someone, I went to check it and who do I see? The Devil. There was no way I was accepting her! That reminds me, according to herself and Alina she is an “amazing” dancer I think it’s time I saw her “amazing” dancing. I searched her dance up and I was – once again – left open mouthed at what I saw.
Those moves were so strong! There was passion in her dance, there was fire within her! Alina was right, she was one sassy dancer. I felt bad for her opponent. One after the other, she sassed the other opponents out of the competition. I wanted to keep watching but I’ve been on my lunch break for bit too long, I had to get back to work. Just one thing kept bugging me now; I had agreed to compete against her but now I wasn’t so sure.
Ria
Why had I agreed to compete against Rohan? I mean I was a good dancer no doubt in that and I was very serious about it, but according to Karan, Rohan was the god of dancing. I don’t know I was very nervous.
It’s finally Saturday. I should mark this date in my calendar as doomsday. I’m going to go to that dance club and dance against Rohan and make a fool out of myself. Yay. Doomsday it is. I only get the driver service in the weekdays so I had to get my own transport, luckily Karan and Alina had offered to give me a ride. I got ready by 6pm and they picked me up by 6:30.
“I love your dress! It’s so sexy” Alina complimented me.
“But you’re looking much sexier babe, sorry Ria” Karan flirted with Alina and she blushed. I thought it was too cheesy. After another couple of clichéd compliments we finally reached the club. Rohan was already there in something casual – for once. I don’t think anyone would guess that he is a businessman with what he was wearing today. That black t-shirt with a white skeleton really suited his strong personality.
“Wow! Ro, you look so hot!” Alina screamed. Hot? Really? I wouldn’t say hot but, dashing might be a better choice. He kept staring at me, and it was creeping me out.
“I know.” He replied. I can’t believe this man’s ego! Karan had the entry passes so once he came back we went into the club.
“Not bad, your dressing sense is quite good for a legal advisor, actually very good.” Rohan whispered in my ears just before we stepped into the world of loud music. I couldn’t help but smile a bit.
