Chopla 3: Promises

Daniella's POV

"Third letter today" Jerome said slapping the mail on the counter. It's been a week since the first letter from my dad, now they are just getting worse. Stalker-ish almost..

"What does it say?" Delilah asked walking over to Jerome.

He opened it before reading it and closing it quickly. He looked over at Mitch who looked back him confused.

Jerome handed the letter to Mitch. "Jerome.." I asked uneasy, "what did it say?"

I heard a rip and looked over at Mitch who had ripped the paper in half. "Mitch!" Lilah scolded, "i wanted to read that!"

"No. You didn't. You did not wanna read it" he stated blankly, his face mixed with anger and worry, which scared me.

"What did it say?" I asked.

I looked over at Jerome who had his head in his hands, Mitch who looked like he was about to punch a wall, and Delilah who was just as confused as me.

"What did the damn thing say!"

"Dani.. It was a death threat" Jerome mumbled.

I froze and stared at him. "a-a I- Uh"

"He sent, a death threat" Mitch said through his teeth, "he said he was going to kill you"

"Mitch he won't do anything" Jerome said looking up. Mitch nodded and leaned against the wall. Jerome put his arm around Lilah and hugged her close. "We won't let them do anything"

"Jerome he has shot you!" I exclaimed tears finally finding their way from my eyes, "if he shot you once he would kill you. Kill you both! For us?" I was full on sobbing at this point.

"Hey it's gonna be okay" Mitch said dropping his angry tone, I felt two arms fall over my shoulders, "he's not going to get you, or Delilah, or Jerome, or me. Everything is going to be okay"

"And if it's not?" I asked wiping my face and looking up at him.

"It will" Jerome said, "I promise you that"

Mitch nodded, "we promise"
