She has honour, beauty, poise and grace
But no one sees the hurt that's hidden in her face
We see that pristine contained confident look
But you can't judge the cover of a book
To really know we must look inside
Because that is where all the secrets hide
The cry behind her laugh, the sob behind her smile
The hope and wish will notice once in a while
No one can see that day to day she carries a burden, a task
To wake up happy, to put on a mask
She could win an Oscar for her acting
The way she smiles and pretends her heart is not aching
But I know....I know the truth behind her lie
How sometimes she just wants to break down and cry
Darkness has got her it's sucking her in
And every ounce of happiness has been burnt from within
I know....I know it's not something she wishes to choose
But she needs to keep up the ruse
Because she's afraid if she lets open the inside of her book
Everyone will be there to look
Everyone will know....what she's trying to keep concealed
And the remnants of her happy girl shield
