One of the most researched Battles occurred in early July, taking place in and around, Gettysburg Pennsylvania. The Army of Virginia Commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and The Army of Potomac Commanded by General George Gordon Meade. The largest Campaign into the North for the Confederacy, considered to be the turning point for the Union Army. The beginning of the end, for the Confederacy. As Uncle Thom put it, The Grand Folly! So get a drink of what ever you prefer, and please continue on with the story.

Normal day, not much goin on. Done my inspection of the Camp, place looks good, my points were used so the Camp at least the 60th is in good shape. Still feel out of place, Theo don't see him much when I do, not like him bein my commanding officer. More like old friends, unlessin they others around. Platoon is a great bunch of fellas, work hard an act like soldiers. Just the right amount of Belly Achin, although they are gettin bored of this rail duty. I think the Regiment is fed up with it. I know I am. Battle ya don't want it, but ya need it ta get this over. Lan sakes just a terrible way ta live.

Just got word! Theys a fight north a here, in Pennsylvania and we a headed that way! The 60th be movin along with others that away. Soon as we form up.
Late evenin, we managed ta move late inta the day marched inta night. Made it about halfway ta Boonsboro, in Maryland. Where we made bivouac fer the night.
3, July 1863 Some reason we a holdin here, told ta wait. Blame Army we need ta move. Gotta get this war over. Boonsboro where we is, why we watin can't be more than two day march. Men are tired but we could move on, why battles last fer days. My fellas askin why we ain't goin ta the fight. Tell thum we get inta soon as we can, not ta rush thins. My, I don't know why. Late need ta sleep.

Well, what a day! Boys did good they first real taste of battle. We fought at Turners Gap. We did not falter, we took ta the fight like soldiers. Cannon an musket fire those Reb Cavalry, fought hard dismounted and moved like Infantry. My, we lost none of our boys not the battle, but my platoon. Couple were just grazed or picked up some wood that splintered from bullets and shot.
These Ohio boys, they can fight seen it out west now here in the east. Damn proud ta be with thum. Seems about seven or so they ran off. Our Regiment did not give chase. Heard tell the rest thum Gray Bellies are movin south, back ta Virginia. Lee finally must a got his ass whomped. I finished my check of the line, think it is over here. Best ta be safe, told Philotis get some sleep. Think I best guess, my first real command went well. Time will tell ifin I can do this.
( Note I have done just a little, tampering with History here. The 60th Ohio was nowhere near this battle. This battle was primarily fought by, Michigan Cavalry, Pennsylvania Calvary, and New York. Some Infantry in support. They did not participate at Gettysburg either, I didn't change the outcome of this battle. Only added a Regiment. Thomas is where he needs to be now, to finish out the story. If I change something for the benefit of the story such as this I will inform you, History must be portrayed accurately!)

Few Questions.
Have you found Thomas as a person real, does he feel like someone that could of lived in that time period?
Have I the writer, well storyteller I am not a writer. Made the story and Thomas's life seem real, meaning has the story fit the period?
Have you felt entertained, yet you have learned something?
Please try to answer at least one of the questions, by making a comment or sending a PM. I thank all of you for your time. I hope all of you aren't going to mad in the mind while staying at home. Thanks again Dram12 AKA Tim.
