𝐔𝐧𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 // Darren Barnet

𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲.

- Maya -
I woke up to my dog licking my face. "Ughh ew." I pushed him off, chuckling. I hear my mom calling me from the bottom of the stairs.

"Honey! Baileys here to pick you up!" I was going to college today. Finally I was getting away from this small town. I took my time getting ready. I hear someone running up the stairs. It was my brother, Ben. "Maya, mom says you need to eat breakfast before you leave."

"I know. Tell her I'll be down in a minute." He sprints back down the stairs and my dog follows with him. I run my fingers through my hair and walk into the bathroom to do my hair and pack my facial products.

"Hmm, straighten or curly.." I decided to go with straight because curls made my hair look shorter. I chose an outfit with some denim shorts cause it was quite warm out.

I went downstairs to the kitchen. My mom directed me towards the counters with stools. There was a cute stack of pancakes with blueberries as eyes and some whipped cream as a mouth.

"Aww, mom thank you." "Well you're going to college today so I thought I'd make it special. I'd smile at her.

Bailey walks in with one of my boxes. Ben has the biggest crush on her and just stares at her every time she's over. I've gotten used to it so I just continued to eat my pancakes.

''So honey, you're gonna be a taking drama as a major?'' I'd swallow the mouthful of pancakes and drink the glass of orange juice. ''Yeah, that's the plan.''

I get up from my chair and get the only pair of shoes i didn't pack and put them on. Mom walks over and pats my back ''We're gonna miss you so much, sweetie.'' I look up at her smiling still tying my last shoelaces. 

I stand up and walk over to to my brother and kneel down. ''Bye bye amigo'' We called each other amigo. Don't really know why but we did. 

Me and my brother got along well. Sometimes. I stood up and walked towards the door to see my mom. ''You've grown so fast, sweetie. Too fast..'' I hug her before she starts to start sobbing.

I pat my dogs head and walked out the door to the car. All I could see were are my boxes stuffed in the back seats.  I sat in the passenger seat and closed up the door. ''I hope my brother isn't going to be too much for my mom.'' ''They'll be fineee, we'll be back at christmas.''

I smile as Bailey starts the engine and starts to drive. The drive was two hours long to stanford.

I go on my instagram and scroll through my feed. Bailey tries to look over to my phone will i scroll. ''Maya you still like that Darren guy?'' 

''Duh! He's so gorgeous..'' She's laugh and continue driving.  We did some karaoke and laughed a lot. We were just passing through a neighborhood when the car stops.

''Uhm, Bailey..? Why did you stop?'' She looked at me with a nervous look. 

''Don't kill me please..?'' ''I won't kill you. Now tell me why the car stopped.'' 

''We're out of gas..-'' I tried to hold it in as much as I can. ''You didn't think to fill up your tank on the way here?!'' I ran my fingers through my hair and looked at our surroundings. I'm gonna go to those apartment blocks.

I got out of the car and went up some gray concrete steps to some apartment buttons. I ring random ones but only one picked up. It was a man.

I spoke nervously. ''Uh hi, m-my friend and I were driving to college and our car kind of ran out of gas and we're stopped just outside and we really don't know where-''

''Oh, I think I have some gas in my trunk let me come down.'' I recognized the voice but it couldn't be..I walked to the bottom of the stairs and waited.

I seen someone approach the door. He opened it and my jaw dropped. I whispered to myself ''Holy shit..-'' But I think he heard it. 

''Did you say something?'' ''U-uh no..-'' I think I was blushing because I saw him hide a smile. I walked over to my car with my back facing bailey and knocked on the window.

He looked at me in confusion. I looked back and smiled nervously. I heard Bailey screaming from inside the car. He looked at her as he was filling the car. ''U-uh I think she's just too warm in the car..'' 

She pushed the door open while pushing me forward. ''Y-YOUR DARREN BARNET. MAYA LOVES YOU.'' I narrowed my eyes at her. ''Bailey..-'' He looks at me and then at Bailey and runs his hands through his dark hair ''So what college are you going to?'' I'd look back at him and blush. 

''Stanford.'' He nods silently. ''I went to Berry college.'' Bailey looks at him, ''Shit that's a good school'' ''Bailey, language! I wanted to go there too but I got Stanford which is still good.''

''Well, all finished. So you're Maya andd Bailey?'' I smile at the fact he knew my name. ''Yep.'' 

''So Maya. Maybe give me your number so you don't need to bother anyone else for gas?'' I think I screamed a little on the inside. ''O-o my- I mean yeah yeah sure.'' I'd walk over to him and let him fill out a contact on my phone. 

Bailey had already got into the car. He hands me my phone ''It was really nice meeting you, Maya.'' ''Yeah you too.'' ''Oh right by the way, I don't want you using my number JUST for gas..'' My heart skipped a beat. Oh. My. God. ''Don't worry, I'll be using it.'' I smiled at him and walked away.

I still felt him looking at me. I got into the car. ''Bailey..He gave me his NUMBER.'' ''Wait WHAT'' ''YEAH. And then he told me to literally call him.'' ''AHHH MAYA!'' I felt like I was in a dream..
