For almost the whole day, Tom, Y/N and Sonic had been driving away from Green Hills and toward San Francisco. By now the sky was dark and Tom was on the lookout for a possible place to stay for the night. He pulled the car over to a gas station that had a payphone with plans to first call Wade and then buy something to eat before trying to find a place to sleep. On the backseat of the car was Y/N who had fallen asleep some time ago. This was partially due to having to talk with Sonic for hours and partially because she hadn't really slept that well the previous night. To Sonic the whole experience had been really interesting. He had really gotten to know both Y/N and Tom more like he always wanted to.

Tom got out of the car and placed a baseball cap on his head. He walked over to the other side of the car where Sonic was sitting with his window open. "Alright. I'm gonna check in with Wade, see if he knows what's going on," Tom explained to him quietly.

"You're gonna see Wade in that glass thing? What is it, a teleportation box?" Sonic questioned.

Tom glanced at the payphone behind him and turned back to Sonic saying, "It's a payphone. It's mostly for drug dealers and fugitives from the law, which is us. Stay in the car. I don't want anybody seeing you."

He began walking towards the phone as Sonic groaned, "Fine." As he sat in the car waiting for Tom to return, he eyed Y/N's sleeping form. I really should've talked to her earlier. She's so nice not to mention the fact that she's so— No! I still have to leave Earth forever and then I'll never see her again. Unless... No. That's impossible.

He sighed and glanced outside to see Tom was still talking on the phone. As he was about to turn back to Y/N his glance turned to something rather interesting further away from the car. There on his left was a bar called Piston Pit and to him it seemed like the most interesting place he had ever seen. The front of it was packed with people and more arrived with their motorbikes as cars were running their motors on the side. He could faintly hear the music playing in the bar as he watched the scene in amazement.

He turned away from the window saying, "Okay, okay. That is the coolest place on Earth, but you have to stay in the car." He then peeked out again to see an arm-wrestling match going on and several bikers greeting each other. He continued turning his glance away from the bar but sooner or later he found himself looking at it again.

As someone was doing tricks on their motorcycle, Sonic noticed a pair of sunglasses and a spare shirt Tom had in the car. "Hmm..." he thought and glanced at Y/N who was sleeping behind him. Should I really? He glanced between Y/N and the bar again a few times thinking what to do. Do— Tom might not like this... and what'll she think... He glanced at Tom who was still talking in the phone and then turned to Y/N before turning to the bar. He wore the shirt and the sunglasses and opened the door jumping out of the car. Here goes.

At that exact instance Y/N woke up and saw the door slamming shut. She sat up and looked around her to see the gas station and the bar on the other side. As she was looking around, she noticed her dad talking on a payphone next to the gas station and then realized Sonic wasn't in the car.

As she looked around for clues about him her eyes darted to the bar. He wouldn't have done that right? She glanced back at her father and sighed. He definitely would've done that. She jumped out of the car and begun walking towards the bar. The people outside it seemed rather drunk and she really didn't want to get too close to them. Once closer to the entrance she noticed the rather buff looking man standing by it. Great, a bouncer. How do I get in without him noticing?

While trying to come up with plans to distract the bouncer she noticed a large group of people walking past her toward the entrance. That'll do. She joined the group and walked with them. Come on, please let this work. Being shorter than most of the people, she just had to stay on the other side and the bouncer wouldn't notice her.
