Third Person P.O.V

Tim slipped the lighter back in his pocket, taking in a deep breath of cigarette smoke. His hands shook and tears went unnoticed. He stared at the camera sitting on the desk, regret and sadness aching in his chest. He kept replaying the video long after the battery died, only in his mind. He couldn't manage to stop it. All he could remember as he looked at it, was the stranger who came into his life and tried to help him confront his demons. Who stood with him.

Until his demons took the stranger away

He pulled the cigarette away, quietly muttering "I'm sorry." "He wishes he could say the same." Tim's head whipped to the left, finding a man standing in the doorway to his bedroom, arms crossed in a dark sweatshirt, black curls messy, his face worn as if he'd recently been in agony. Not to mention the old burn scars that dotted it.

"Who the h**l are you?" Tim asked, fury lashing out in words, not bothering to approach. He was too tired at this point.

"A friend, you could say," The man waved a hand wrapped in bloody bandages, "Firebrand." "I don't really care how you got in my house," Tim huffed, "But I'd really like for you to take the same way out-" "No. I have to let you know somethings before I can go," Firebrand said, stepping towards him. He didn't back down at all, just watched as Firebrand put a hand on his shoulder.

After Tim shot a disgusted look, Firebrand rolled his eyes and shrugged "Look, I wanna touch you about as much as you want me touching you, but I can be unseen for a time-like now- and for a minute, so can you. Unheard, too. Pretty cool, huh?" "A nutjob, great." Tim deadpanned, holding the cigarette back to his lips.

"Jessica," he began, Tim instantly snapping his head towards him, "She's in danger. You did the right thing, hiding her, but if you can't get to her, she's going to die. By Slender Man, or by Habit. Maybe worse." "Who? Wait, Slender Ma-" "That tall thing, yeah. Now I need you to focus for a minute. There's a book. I sent it to her. It will protect her from Slender Man for a time. He's getting more powerful, and before long, that bullet proof vest is gonna melt away." "Why?" "Well, for one thing, the universe set up some failsafes. Those failsafes are dropping like flies. Jessica is- we'll just say- incredibly important to this cause."

"So I need to go after her?"

"No, Alex will do the trick just as much as anyone. You have to get rid of him first."

"Kill?"

"You okay with that?"

"Perfectly."

"Well, now's not quite the time. Start tomorrow. Right now, you need to worry about surviving..."

He didn't get to ask before a figure came through the front door. Alex. Tim reached for the knife, but Firebrand shook his finger, "Remember? Can't see us." He only nodded, watching as Alex looked around, gun in hand as he emptied some liquid on the floor. He clenched his fist as Alex crept onto the back patio. Firebrand let go. "Good luck," He said as Alex threw down a lighter fluid bottle, "You might want to start running." Alex lit a match.

Tim grabbed his pills and the cameras, just as the room lit up with orange. The patio was ablaze, the fire quickly sweeping in through the door.

He ran out the front door, suddenly realizing Firebrand had not followed. Somehow, he figured that the man could take care of himself.
