Maya looked in front of her as she entered the apartment she once called home.
She sees her mother clearly shocked to see her but knew she was now almost ready for the next step.

"You got discharged," Katy said and Maya rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, thanks for visiting Mom. Where is Dad?" Maya asked grabbing a bottle of water."l
"At work. How was it?" Katy asked as Maya looked at her mother.
"The hardest part was the first week. And the rest flew by. Our of five girls was I the only one who got discharged. I have to see the therapist once a week as an outside patient but I am healthy enough to be on my own," Maya said.
"Yeah let's see how long that lasts," Kermit said and Maya turned around looking at her father.

"Hi, Dad," Maya said as she tried catching her breathe.
"This should be fun to see how long an alcoholic lasts to stay clean," Kermit said as he pulled out a cigarette.
"Kermit, smoke outside. It's suffocating us," Katy said and Kermit looked at his wife.
"Dare touch her and I'm calling the police," Maya said and her father looked at her.
"I'm not allowing you to control me anymore. You were the cause that I am what I am. I started to drink at the age of 18 because I couldn't take it that I was feeling the pain. Now you won. But you also lost your daughter. I'm packing my stuff and moving," Maya said walking past her mother.
"Where? You haven't worked in the past two years," Kermit said laughing as Maya looked at her father.

"Grandma Gammy offered me the garden apartment. I'm staying there for awhile. And looking for work again. I'm done," Maya said going to her room.
