Author's Note and things you missed

• Merrily is always introduced with the Ding-Dong of a doorbell. Go ahead and check. I can only think of one or two circumstances where that may not be. Anyone know why that is? It's a reference to the Christmas carol. Her name was always going to be Merrily. Then I developed the idea that Yule would sing songs with her name in them to tease her, like Row, Row, Row Your Boat, Merrily We Roll Along, and Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary (changing the lyrics to Merrily, Merrily, quite contrarily). Then I realized Merrily's name was in a popular Christmas carol, and that I wanted her character to by symbolically connected to Yule's on the Christmas spectrum. So the next time you read and you see the doorbell, just remember, "Ding Dong Merrily on High".

• I had no idea where this story was going at the start. I literally had one idea: Bill turns teenaged human in Gravity Falls with no memory of how. I wrote the first chapter and published. I had no idea I would write more than one fic, I had none of the ocs in mind, and absolutely no plot in mind, except for possible character pairings.

• I had to come up with a last name for Yule when I realized he would need a last name for his gravestone. Me and a friend brainstormed on a camping trip. She came up with the last name Shields, because he would die shielding Bill. She then said his middle name had to be Tidepod. Yule Tidepod. Get it? Yeah, you do. Canonically, his middle name is actually Klaus, but un-canonically, it's Tidepod. Tyler does call Yule Tide, though, just for the pun off yuletide.

• List of important plot points even I didn't know of until the day I wrote and published them:
-Dan/Donovan has children
-Tyler is a changeling
-Bill is going to live with Soos and Melody
-Bill, Yule, and Pacifica need a wish from a Jinni to stop the pulses
-Merrily is an immortal
-Bill meets Axolotl

• List of plot points I never followed through on:
-Merrily was going to die and become a ghost, too, and that's how she and Yule would have their happily ever after. I later found out that she would be immortal to achieve that.
-All of the Redd children were going to have fluctuated ages and even stay as teenagers. Seb was going to be an aspiring actor and even have a girlfriend.
-Bill and Pacifica would find out that Merrily could see Yule when they got back to school. Yule was going to be walking with them in the halls and Merrily would see him and scream. I couldn't follow through on this because I needed this to happen sooner.
