Chapter 30: Bunny Rabbit

Fiona Rousette.

Sixteen years old, bullied often before Audrey waltzed into her life, kind and compassionate, a nerd and a bookworm, a worry wart, shy, has the most beautiful smile and an adorable laugh, a one-of-a-kind humor, and she was perfect. All according to Audrey.

She was also her best friend.

And then her girlfriend.

What an odd term.

But nevermind that.

The moment I swung the door open, there came a slight halt in time. She stared at me, I stared at her, and I thought it was rather unbelievable how nice her green jacket was. I should ask her where she got it from later on.

Anyways...

"I-Is that you?" My lips quivered and I placed a hand over my mouth in absolute shock. "I can't believe it. After all these years..."

"W-what?" she squeaked.

Can you look at that? Her first word to me!

She stepped back, dumbfounded.

"It's me," I hitched, clutching the door handle desperately, "Don't you recognize me?"

"I-I," she looked around herself, greatly alarmed, "I was just, the driveway was empty and I wanted to make sure..." She was blinking rapidly, fidgeting and nervous, "I'm sorry, I don't know who you are, but I was just looking for a friend of mine," no, she's mine, "and, um, does she live here? Audrey Willington?"

I shook my head in disbelief, "I can't believe you." I looked away, distraught and succumbed with deep anguish, whatever that looked like, and I felt a sob crawl out of my throat, "I can't believe you'd just show up in my life again just to ask for another girl. After everything we've been through."

"Uh..." She was conflicted. Panicked. And she chewed the inside of her cheek, looking genuiely guilty and immensely confused. "I-I'm sorry. Maybe if I knew your name, I'd remember?"

Audrey forgot to mention she was gullible, too.

I wondered if her friends had mentioned me to her. You know? The ones from the mall at Elenor, Audrey's hometown, and also the place where Audrey accidentally punched me in the face which I framed one of her ex-friends on doing.

I've remembered their names.

Alan, Tuli, Grendale, Helayla, Luke, and Tyler

I've only met four of them, so far.

"It's Penny," I grinned, immediately dropping my act. "And I was just messing with you. We've never met."

"O-oh," she blushed. How cute.

"So," I began and eyed her up and down, accessing her. "May I ask who you are?"

"I'm Fiona--"

"Fiona?" I gasped, "I've been expecting you!"

She was alarmed by this. "You have?"

"No."

And then I stared at her for an uncomfortably long time. Five seconds, to be exact. It was funny watching her squirm.

Alright, fine. I'll stop messing with her.

"Audrey does live here, by the way," I finally said, releasing the awkward tension. "She's out, though. With my mother." I slightly widened the entrance. "Did you need something from her?"
