Three:
Finally the secretary came out nodding at me to go in. I walked in looking around the office.
It hadn't changed.
It's plain grey walls matched every other wall in this fucking place. There was nothing on the walls and the desk was a simple metal table with a computer and paper work neatly stacked on it. Two chairs sat in front of the desk. The room was fairly small but it was clear that he needed nothing more then what was already in it.
Dan hadn't looked even when I walked in.
Not that it was anything new.
"Agent 3, thank you for coming, please sit down." He had finally looked up gesturing towards one of the seats. I nodded sitting down facing him. "Nasty bruise you got there." His face completely stoic as he pointed at my face.
Dan must have been around 40 now, his hair was slightly greyish mixing well with his originally black hair. His dark skin had few to no wrinkles on it. His deep brown eyes were small and intimidating.
He was tall and muscular. His shoulders were so broad I swear you could fit about 3 of me in the gap between each shoulder.
His whole look and build was meant to intimidate and it did.
He always wore the same grey suit. Although he may have looked like a business man he was anything but.
Fast, strong and deadly.
These are just a few of the many words I could think to describe him.
Oh along with Dick, he has to be one of the biggests pricks ever.
And I happened to be the lucky bitch that had to spar with him when he wanted to train.
"Occupational hazard, sir."
"Well yes I guess so." He leant his arms on the desk and stared at me as he began speaking again. "Although you may assume the failure of your last mission is why your here, it's not. That mission I sent you on was meant to fail, the man I sent you to kill is a new threat and I wanted to see how he would react. I knew he wasn't there but I needed to see if he would react to my agents with violence. For now we will let him run." He had leant back on his chair.
I could feel myself getting angrier.
"If you dont mind me asking, sir. Why didn't you tell me this? It could have been useful to know that I was most definitely walking into a trap." I could hear my voice getting more annoyed as I spoke.
Putting extra emphasis on the sir.
Testing him.
"I do mind you asking and as my best agent I didn't think you needed to know. Clearly it wasn't that important because you are here now with only a small bruise. So stop complaining. This isn't the reason I brought you here today." His once emotionless voice now had a hint of threat in it.
I snapped my mouth shut to stop myself from speaking again.
Fucking asshole I swear.
"You have a new mission. I'm placing you in charge Alpha 1."
A team. Really?
He knows I don't do teamwork anymore, what the hell was he thinking?
"With all due respect Sir I'm a solo agent, why are you placing me with a team?" I controlled the anger in my voice, sounding as calm and respectful as I could.
"Well this mission hits a bit closer to home with you and it's a lot bigger then just one man or a small group of your basic terrorists. These people were trained in similar ways you were even an agent of your talent would likely fail on your own, but you already know that. That's why I'm sending you and my best team to deal with it."
