Three:

We landed and after an hour's car drive we were all sitting in a small house with just enough rooms for us as well as a small kitchen, living room and 1 bathroom.

It was a bit run down but I had definitely stayed in worse.

As I drove us to the house I got a look at the town.

Just as I remembered it, busy but not overcrowded.

Literally nothing had changed Carla's bar still had the same drunk men sat outside it, the building that had burnt down still hadn't been cleared, the dirty old diner that everyone loved for some reason was still there and that stupid shop that sold all the weird clothes was still open.

How was that place still open?

Who goes there and buys, stuff?

When I was here last my hair was a pale blonde and it was a lot shorter. Luckily I had decided to go back to my natural dark hair and let it grow out a bit.

The scar on my face was also new.

Hopefully no one will recognize me.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by Ace poking my shoulder, I ignored him the first time but then I turned to catch his wrist the second time.

"What?" I looked up at him, his eyes wide with shock when I caught his wrist.

"Well first of all I wanted to apologise for earlier. I shouldn't have asked about it. Secondly we are coming up with a plan in the kitchen." He smiled warmly, pulling his arm away.

Oh.

I'd rather if he was just being a dick to me honestly. In fact I wish all of them just paid me no attention and were rude, but instead they all feel the need to be overly nice to me.

It made it harder to not like them and I wanted to hate it.

It was infuriating.

I don't want to grow attached to these people. But It's difficult when they seem to be decent people.

Even if they didn't like me they still feel the need to be polite which was more then you could say about most people.

I followed him into the kitchen to see Sarah sat at the table tapping away on her laptop with Mark and Amir stood over her watching. They all looked up, apart from Sarah, as we walked in.

"Right well now we are all here we can discuss what we are going to do and what are first move is... Any ideas?" Mark asked looking at everyone before his gaze landed on me.

"I need to go check on something. You guys can figure out what you want to do and you can fill me in when I get back. I'm sure with the information you have you can figure something out." I spoke plainly before turning away from the table. "You're used to working as a team with Mark in charge, carry on like that."

"Wait! That's not how this works. Where are you going?" Mark raised his voice causing me to stop and face them again.

"First of all, you may be a team but I'm used to working alone so for me this is how it works. I'm going to speak to someone who can help. I'm not doing anything serious just a... friendly conversation." I tried to hide the uncertainty behind the word 'friendly'.

It may be a little harsher then friendly, but nothing too bad.

"Well someone should go with you just incase. You were the one who warned us about how dangerous it is." He smiled smugly at me.

"Fine, who ever it is, be ready in 10." I sighed as I walked out heading into my room.

You really wanted to go that badly.
