POE

"There, land right there, in the clearing!" Finn yells and points.

I can see an area of clearing with what looks like a newly blasted out crater. Something big happened here, and it was powerful enough to crack the ground open.

"There she is, be careful!" Finn yells. Looking down, I see a small body on the ground between the crater and the cracked surface.

Landing the Falcon, my crew and I disembark quickly. Finn is running as well as Chewie. I'm afraid to run. I'm afraid of what we are about to find.

"She's alive? But her pulse is very weak. There's blood on the back of her head."
"Get out of the way so I can examine her!" Dr. Rorshum grumbles.

"Her pupils are unequal and there's blood seeping from her right ear. Her skull is probably fractured. Get her loaded up quickly, but be careful. Keep her head elevated. We don't want to increase the intracranial pressure, " he orders.

Onboard the Falcon, I take off as soon as Rey is strapped into the small medical bay.
Please Dr. Rorshum, don't let her die. She's our only hope, I think to myself. Tears prick my eyes, but I don't let them fall.

Beside me, in the co-pilot seat, Chewbacca is wailing, not caring who hears or sees.

I jump to light speed to meet up with what's left of the Resistance, and to get Rey to a real medical bay hoping Dr. Rorshum can work a miracle.

Finn comes running into the cockpit, "She's not stable, but Doc says she's better than she was, but he's got to get her to surgery as soon as possible."

I close my eyes. Hold on Rey, we're going to get you there. And I'm going to kill that monster for you.

REY

I slowly open my eyes to a dimly lit room. Where am I! How did I get here? Where's Ben? I try to set up, but I'm too weak. "Oh." The aching pain in my chest; I remember now. Memories come flooding back from our time spent on Gernel. I begin to cry.

Strong arms ease me up and place pillows behind me for support.

"It's okay Rey, I'm here. Try not to move too much just yet. You've been through a lot."
I recognize Finn's voice. It usually soothes me, makes me feel as if I belong, but not anymore.

I give Finn a small smile to reassure him. Only I know it's fake for his benefit. He's my best friend, but he wouldn't understand what I am feeling.

There's a dull ache in the back of my head. I reach up and find it wrapped in some sort of bandage.

"You hit your head hard enough to crack your skull. Dr. Rorshum had to perform surgery on you to fix it. He mentioned something about removing a blood clot. He's a really talented doctor. I guess if I had four arms like him, I would be a really talented fighter. He also said I would probably be smarter than you from now on."

I give Finn another smile. This one a little more genuine. He is my best friend for a reason.

"Finn. What happened? How did I get here?"

"You want the short version or the long version?" he asks.

"I want the everything version," I answer.

"Well, we knew General Organa had sent you off on a mission concerning the First Order. We went to Marian 5 as planned. Our mission was a success. We killed almost all of the top generals the First Order had; unfortunately, Kylo Ren was not there. I would love to blow him into a million bloody pieces."
