Where We Belong

BEN

I collapse forward onto my forearms on either side of Rey to keep from crushing her. Laying my head gently on her chest, I feel our hearts pounding in unison with our breathing loud and raspy. She still has on the nightgown, but her hot skin scorches me through it. My thoughts are reeling. I am beginning to understand how powerful men throughout history have been brought down by women. I slowly withdraw from Rey as I stand up. The loss of contact makes me wince.

  REY

Sighing deeply as Ben withdraws, I have a brief feeling of loss, but nothing can override the pure bliss I am in.

That was amazing. I never knew a man could make me feel this much pleasure.

My whole life has been about day to day survival—eat to live—scavenge to eat. No true human connections, no intimacy, just cold loneliness. Warmer by many degrees, my spirit has wrapped itself around another.

Ben reaches out and helps me up to a sitting position. Gently cupping my cheek in his big hand, he runs his thumb over my lips. His dark eyes search my face for regret, and finds none.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you. I got a little carried away," he whispers.

I smile and reply, "Apology not accepted. That was wonderful."

Ben gets a cocky grin on his face and raises one eyebrow, "It was wasn't it?"

Helping me off the table, I stand on wobbly legs and laugh when Ben slips an arm around my waist to steady me.

"I believe I need to go to the private room." Ben turns and begins guiding me in that direction. "Oh no, there's a reason I call it a private room," I laugh.

Ben blushes a bit and drops his head. He still stands naked in all his glory. He definitely has nothing to be ashamed of, I think to myself.

"I heard that," he says as he turns to walk away. Now it's my turn to blush.

Nestled in his arms, I practically hum with every exhalation. My nightgown has long since been discarded. Ben nuzzles my neck with his nose placing soft kisses in a trail up the side of my face. I shudder slightly, then feel something firm pushing against my upper thigh.

"Again already?" I ask playfully.

"Third time is the charm," Ben growls back in my ear.

"Aaahhhh!" I attempt to suck in a breath, but there is no oxygen. Ben stiffens next to me as he does the same. Sudden wrenching pain grips my chest. Reaching up, I expect to find blood. Finding none is of no reassurance. The feeling of being torn apart steals my breath. My lungs are burning, starving for air. The bond is completely open and I can tell Ben is experiencing the same pain. We feel each other's pain as well as pleasure.

Suddenly, I feel a snap. The string to our bond is gone.  It didn't disappear.  It's simply not needed anymore. My soul no longer feels like a solid piece of me. It's liquifying in an inferno of excruciating pain.  Surely we will die soon.

My vision begins to darken either from lack of air or pain.  Slowly it goes completely black and we lose consciousness.

Blinking into the darkness, Am I blind? No, it's still nightfall and the fire has burned down to mere embers. Ben stirs next to me. We are still in my bed, but it is obviously a couple of hours later than before the...the what?

Before the bond completed, Ben answers me in my mind.

We are a completed dyad now, Rey. Two that are one. Our souls have been joined seamlessly.

He was right.  I could feel the completeness inside myself.  I am right where I belong.

We are right where we belong. Ben corrects.  Smiling, I take his hand in mine, interlacing our fingers.

Careful to keep some of my thoughts shielded, especially the ones involving Leia's plan, we talk within our minds for hours. Ben shows me some of his good memories as a child. One memory includes him sitting with his feet splashing in a large pool fed by a majestic waterfall.  Other memories involving Chewie make me laugh.

A not so good memory leaks through showing me a teenage Ben standing behind his uncle. His eyes are wide with fear and curiosity. Master Luke is facing off against seven men dressed in attire and masks eerily similar to Kylo Ren's.  The memory abruptly ends.

Scowling, Ben says, "Sorry, I didn't mean for you to see that." I don't ask any questions. I do not want anything to ruin this moment.

Before falling asleep, we make love again, careful to keep the bond closed. All of our sensations seem to be heightened. A new energy lives between us. If I listen close enough, I can almost hear it sizzle.

Before dozing off, I hear Ben's smooth, deep voice in my head.

I love you, Rey

I love you, Ben Solo. I say in return.
