Catra was messing with some app on her phone when she noticed Scorpia's long uncomfortable silence. It made her feel queasy, and she hated feeling that way. She had been avoiding communicating with her for almost the entire walk home since the comedy show that was the diner interaction with Adora and her...friend.
Figuring that she should be a good friend right about now, looked at her tall companion who was walking with her bagged meal. "Hey, is something wrong?" It came out more awkwardly than she meant for it to. Well, it was out in the open now.
"Oh nothing's wrong Wild Cat, I'm fine." Scorpia said without looking at her. She was lying right to her face. The girl didn't even look her in the eyes as she answered her question. When they got to her house, her parents left a note for them to read.
We are going on a business trip for this month, we left money in our room so you guys can buy pizza and other food if you get hungry. Please stay out of trouble, we love you two. Stay safe while home alone.
Love, Mom and Mom
P.S NO PARTIES"I guess we have the whole house to ourselves then." Scorpia commented looking away from her brunette friend.
Catra, sensing the awkwardness that was so thick it could be cut with a hacksaw, took that was a sign that she could leave. "Okay then, I guess I'm going to my room call me if you need anything." She said as she walked up the stairs with her food.
"Uh, okay." Scorpia said with sadness in her eyes. Catra walked into my room and plopped on her bed with her french toast, bacon, hash browns and plastic cutlery. Something was wrong with Scorpia. She just needed to figure it out.

Catra was mindlessly scrolling through her phone once again on social media. Food. Food. Regurgitated meme. Food. Unfunny regurgitated meme. Food—something broke her pattern and she saw a selfie of Adora. It was a mirror one in a bathroom as she stood behind a brightly colored-closed shower curtain. Her hair was down and she was in a pale gray tank top with a caption that read: 'Trying something new for a change'. The post had a multitude of likes and comments but four in particular caught her attention at once.
ReiningSparklez: Love the new look!
Desert_Rose: Looks great Adora!
SeaGoddessS: Told you it'd look good.
FlyingBowsN'Arrows: Yeah! It looks amazing! Why did this irritate Catra so much? It shouldn't have but it did. At the same time, her heart was racing. It pounded and pounded in her chest cavity like a drum.
Adora definitely did not look pretty. She was not about to agree with the people who swept the girl she cared about off her feet with whatever was so amazing about them. Catra honestly could not understand. Her pink-haired friend was obnoxious, like any kid of the school's superintendent would be. Then there was their sporty archer friend. So sickeningly sweet, that one look at him would make her diabetic. The blue haired girl...granted she didn't know much, but she still didn't like her. Leaving the plant-loving hippie for last, she just found her kind of annoying.
"Catra? You finished with breakfast?" Scorpia's voice on the other side of the door broke her thoughts.
The brunette stared down at her plate, then at the door and basically repeated this for a couple seconds before cramming what she could in her mouth. "Yeah!" She called out. Her hastily made plan was to talk to Scorpia and get the bottom of her sudden avoidance of conversation with her. It bothered her. In her mind it really shouldn't, but her heart was telling her too bad. It was bugging her, and she would figure it out even if it killed her.
Her friend entered her room and extended a hand before looking at her styrofoam box. "Wow, you ate it all." Scorpia commented with a small smile on her lips, almost as if she were proud of her friend for obtaining some food.
Catra gave a couple of chews of what she could and swallowed, nodding her head as she did this. "Yup. I was really hungry." She responded in turn. "How was your breakfast?"
"Oh, it was good. I wanted more eggs though. That place doesn't give me enough, and they were kinda cold." The taller female replied.
Catra gave a small frown. "That sucks. At least your pancakes were good." She encouraged.
Scorpia smiled brightly. "Yeah, they make the best pancakes. I heard they had new chocolate ones and they made me think of you."
The heterochromatic brunette was unprepared for that. "You thought of me?"
"Of course I did Wild Cat. You're my friend, I always think of you no matter what happens." Scorpia responded with a happy nod, finally picking up her styrofoam box and placing it on top of hers before exiting her room.
Catra just sat there. Her heart was doing that thing again. It was beating. Yeah, that's what it was doing. Hammering so hard in her damn chest she thought she would combust at any moment. Combust and she would be nothing, only to then just fade away into the unknown emotions that were swirling inside her heart and her brain.
