We enter the house and I start looking around. The house seems rather large on the inside. It has four rooms; three that look like they are being used. One looks like an office and the other two look like bedrooms. It doesn't look like the fourth one is being used for anything. Was this supposed to be the baby's room? I think to myself. I'm glad I can be the one to make their dream of a family come true.
"Isa we should get the job done and head back," Raphael says, reminding me of why we came in the first place. He grabs my hand and leads me toward the bedroom where the soon to be mother was sleeping.
"She is so beautiful," I say almost silently. I admire her features for a few more minutes before I feel a strong compulsion come over my body. I lean down and rest my hand on her stomach. I feel myself picturing a little girl that looks like her mother.
"Isa, you did it without me even needing to tell you how. I can feel the second life force starting to flow through her now," Raphael says, as he looks at me like a proud parent.
"I don't know how I did it. I just felt an urge to put my hand on her stomach and believe it will be a little girl who looks like her mom," I say, not fully understanding what happened.
"You have a natural affinity for this kind of thing. Isa this has always been a part of you even if you could not see it at the time. You have the innate ability to form and create the most caring life forms. You also have the ability to form some pretty formidable creatures if you wish to," Raphael says, a tone of warning in his voice. "We better get going, we still have more training to do. I think it would be a good idea to start combat training. Also it would be a good idea for me to start teaching you some Angel History while we are at it," Raphael says, as he starts floating toward the ceiling going right through it.
"Wait for me," I say, following him. We fly straight into Heaven and after a few minutes I ask him, "Why do Angels have to train in combat? I thought violence wasn't allowed here."
"You are correct. Violence isn't allowed here. But when we travel to Earth, all bets are off. There are some demons and other spiritual enemies of Angels that would jump on the opportunity to attack an Angel that can't defend themselves," Raphael explains, trying not to freak me out.
"What do you mean some demons? I thought all demons were evil and enemies of Angels," I state, recalling what I've always been taught.
"Most demons have a severe disdain for Angels, but there are others that will do anything for them. Including taking them into their own home as their children or becoming close friends with Angels," Raphael says, with a look of wisdom in his eyes. "Some demons befriend humans and help them in any way they can. Most demons can be very loyal to a fault."
"Are you trying to tell me that Zita is a demon in a subtle way? Honestly that was the least subtle way of telling me that. How am I supposed to believe you anyway?" I ask, scared.
"This is why I brought you to Heaven before telling you this. Remember, while we are here we are incapable of lying. We also promised that we would be open and honest with you about anything. So that way you guys will continue with your training."
"But why haven't Muerta and I been able to tell that she is a demon?" I ask, still trying to process what he just told me.
"Well you guys were just awakened so you probably couldn't sense it. Your mother probably knew, but she wanted you to live a normal life so she never told you. If she would have, it would have exposed you to your second life," Raphael explains, seeing the pained look on my face.
"I need to tell Muerta. She needs to know," I say, wondering what she would think.
"Unfortunately your link only works when you both are either in Heaven or on Earth. That means your link won't work while she's in Hell. But I still think we should start combat training," He says, trying to change the subject.
"What does combat training entail for Angels?" I ask, genuinely curious.
"Well first things first is cardio," He says, as we land back at the training grounds. "We are going to start with three miles around the track. Don't worry I'll be right here running with you the entire time. You run cross-country right?" Raphael asks, looking at my physique.
"Yes, I run cross country but be warned I run nine-minute miles," I say, looking at Raphael hoping I don't kill him.
"Don't worry young one I run seven miles every morning around this track. Three miles won't be much and I run eight-minute miles anyway. We are going to work your endurance as well. So for the first two weeks of combat training we are going to add an extra half a mile every day until we eventually get to ten miles. You will help me with my endurance as well so for that, thank you."
"Are we going to do actual combat training afterward, or are we just running for now?" I ask, already knowing the answer.
"The run is just a warmup dear. There will be actual training afterward. I will warn you it will be extremely physical. I won't be able to hurt you but I may come close on a few occasions."
"I figured the run was our warmup. I don't mind the physicality honestly, I've been wanting to train on how to defend myself, and this will be the perfect opportunity. I just never thought it would be to save my mother's life."
"That's the thing, my dear, you never have been a fighter. But when you are backed into a corner, you will do anything to protect the ones you love. That's one of your most admirable traits Isa. That is why you will make an excellent Angel of Life."
"Thank you, Raphael, I think those are the kindest words anyone has ever said to me. Are we ready to start running?"
"Ready when you are, young one," He says as I take off running. About thirty minutes later we finished running around the track. Raphael ran stride for stride with me the entire time. "Alright young one time for the fun part," He says, grabbing my shoulder. I grab his hand off my shoulder and spin so that I have his arm held behind his back. He brings his leg behind my left ankle and pulls forward. I knew he was probably going to do that. Something inside told me to brace and push his arm up and jump back a step so his leg misses. "Alright young one, you can let me go," He says, tapping my arm in submission, "Where did you learn how to do that?"
"I don't know, something inside me told me what to do," I explain.
"We're going to have to discuss your inner voice later," Raphael says, as he gets ready to go another round. "Are you ready? I'm going to go a little harder this time. You are a lot more proficient in self-defense than you thought you were."
