He loved the way she'd laugh so hard that she'd start snorting, how when she was reading it was as if she was in her own bubble. The effect she had on those around her and how every time she would enter the room it'd bring a smile to her friends faces. How her [h/l] [h/c] hair would blow lightly in the wind when she would sit outside whether her head was stuck in another book or she had taken to her sketchbook. Her eyes would bore into whoever she would be talking to as if she was taking in everything that they were saying with importance.

It was simply that he had fallen deeply in love with her, the only problem was that every time he seemed to try and talk to her she would shut him down. Her eyes never lit up when they met his, he was never the one to make her laugh so hard she'd start crying. He was simply a classmate that she seemed to hate.

It hadn't always been like this, they used to hold small conversations, his small quips during class would bring a smile to her face before she added her own. They were in their own world, she would sometimes visit their practices and he'd look for her at their games, she rarely ever missed one.

That was until the second term of their second year the year was coming to a close, it was time for their seating arrangements to change and they, unfortunately, weren't placed near each other, because of this they didn't talk as often and it was harder to enjoy the others company halfway across the classroom. Seeing as it was still the beginning of summer the night was still quite warm as they were both chosen to do clean up for the class. Usually, it would be more than just the two of them but since Akaashi had missed too many after school cleanups due to volleyball he was overdue to clean. [y/n] had shown up to class late one too many times that she had also been stuck on clean up.

They had small conversations here and there it was nothing major until she had to reach something up high. As if it was a classic romance he had to help her since she was a little too short, when she turned back around they had been a few inches too close when she decided to kiss him. She had pulled away hastily, uttering a sorry before leaving the class. She hadn't even given him enough time to kiss her back.

The next day she had avoided him, assuming it was a mistake that she was embarrassed about, in which he honoured her and tried his best to ignore her as well. Their conversations became more sparse and he didn't see her at practice as often. She would sometimes come to games but when he'd search for her in the crowd it was as if she avoided his gaze.

Before long it was as if she was never a part of his life, she had blocked his number and avoided his eyes as much as she could. Whenever she did look at him it felt like daggers, he was sure that she hated every facet of his being. It felt crushing to know that he would never feel her soft lips that tasted of cherries ever again. That he'd never even be able to talk to one of his favourite people again.

No matter how hard she tried she couldn't rid herself of the growing love for him, the way he easily picks up on even the slightest mood change, his small comments during lessons that always seem to catch her off guard. How even though he has such an energetic and loud friend like Bokuto he is still quiet and reserved. She loves how he's able to bring the best out of Bokuto when he is in a mood. Whenever she's graced with his small smiles it makes her feel as though she's won the lottery, even the small quirk of his lips makes her heart speed up. She loved going to their games just to see how clearly passionate about the game he was even with a calm demeanour. She had to admit that she had fallen head over heels for the raven-haired boy, but he had broken her heart.

She had kissed him, but she didn't feel him kiss back. She felt horrible, she had ruined their relationship despite it being small conversations she was content, why did she have to be greedy. When she had gotten home that night she knew she had run away too quickly for him to even respond, she made a promise to try and talk to him the next day. However, the week had not turned in her favour, it's as if everyone needed her help and not being a person that could say no she was thrown around for the rest of the week. Never being able to find time to talk to Akaashi, she had the thought to just text him to meet up but as if the universe hated her, a rogue ball had hit her phone out of her hand shattering the screen on impact. So since her phone was also out of commission for repairs she saw the only option was to wait for a free day, but when one had come it seemed as if he was avoiding her. Maybe she was right, maybe he thought she was that weirdo that kissed her and never thought of her in a romantic light for a second.
