stroked I've never really done a request before, but I tried my best to make your idea come to life! It's kind of angsty and the ending is kind of bittersweet I guess? So I hope you enjoy it!

She huffed out a breath, rubbing her arms. It was getting colder as she waited for her boyfriend. She had tried texting and calling him but to no avail, "[y/n]? What are you doing out here in the cold?" She turned her head at the sound of a familiar voice, finding Kuroo walking with Kai by his side.

"I'm waiting for Kenma, we were supposed to meet up" she glanced at the time on her phone rolling her eyes. "An hour ago," he raised a brow clearly not impressed with his best friend's actions.

"Oh I saw him before I left, he seemed wrapped up in a new game he just got." she blinked trying to hold back her tears, it wasn't the first time he had stood her up in the past few weeks. Ever since he had gotten a new game trying to get a hold of him had become a challenge. Kuroo picking up on her disappointment, put a hand on her shoulder giving her a sympathetic smile. "Why don't you hang out with Kai and me? Were meeting up with a few of the guys and they'd love to see ya." She nodded, knowing at this point Kenma wasn't going to show.

She held her stomach as she laughed with the boys, they had met up with Yaku, Bokuto and Akaashi. Kuroo had just finished trying to convince Bokuto that ketchup was a smoothie, she heard her phone buzz. 'I only just saw this.' her smile faltered at his lacklustre response, 'sorry' she let out an annoyed sigh. It wasn't even a convincing apology, it was cleary quickly written out in the middle of a cutscene or something.

'It hurt my feelings, you could have just texted me. I waited for an hour for you to show.' she closed her eyes trying to calm her breathing, she didn't want the guys to know she was this upset at their friend. 'Luckily Kuroo saw me and invited me to hang out.' She wanted him to voice some kind of emotion, she typed out the add on trying to make him feel more guilty.

'Then why are you upset? Just hang out with him then' she dropped her phone down next to her. Kuroo nudged her lightly, making her look up at him. "Is everything ok?" all she could do was shake her head, not wanting to cause any more attention to fall on her. Having Kuroo's attention already felt like too much, she felt like crying.

"It seems you care more than my boyfriend." her words were dripping with bitterness, she couldn't stop them from falling out. She covered her mouth, not wanting any more signs of distress to leave her lips. "Sorry, I didn't mean that." she was about to explain herself and apologize for just insulting his closest friends but he put up a hand to stop her.

"No, he's being rude. He shouldn't have left you waiting for an hour." He crossed his arms, he did make her feel a little better. Knowing she wasn't going crazy and it was rather insensitive. "I'm sure it'll pass once this week's over, he mentioned he has almost finished the game." she nodded up at the middle blocker with a plastered on a smile. Maybe Kuroo was right, and this was just a blip and he'd shower her in attention to try and make up for his behaviour.

She thought that was what was happening when he had texted her to come over. She believed that maybe it was a way for him to make it up to her for the missed dates and the dry responses the past few weeks. She took a little longer to get ready, to see him since they hadn't seen each other in weeks besides at school and even then he would be too involved with his game to give anyone much attention.

"Kenma? Are you here?" It wasn't completely unusual for him not to answer the door, but that's why he told her that the spare key was in the mailbox. She walked through the house until she stood in front of his closed door. He let out a breath trying to brace herself, before turning the knob and entering the room. He sat on the floor with his headphones in, staring intently at the screen. She bent down in a squatting position poking his cheek. She looked sideways, confirming he knew she was there before turning his attention back on the screen.
