The streets of Konoha were littered with people of all ages and with all types of different products to sell. It was a day in Konoha that came around once a month. A day for business owners to restock their shelves and make a little extra on that day. A day for the citizens to spend a little less on their usual products. It was a discount day that all citizens of Konoha looked forward to.

One, in particular, loved this time of the month as this individual could pickpocket high-end items from even the poor that day. This individual could resell the item on a normal day of the month and make twice as much money. Their strategy was simple and easy as long as no one caught them.

As the individual rounded a corner into a dark alleyway to escape the light of peering eyes, they turned to check if they were being followed before smirking with victory in their bright blue eyes when no one could be seen.

Turning back to the darkness, they walked slowly into it as though the figure had been acquainted with the dark for a long time. It was as if welcoming an old friend in your home.

The figure came out to a large open area with tents and futons littered around the area. People of all ages but no jobs laid in their beds, hoping for a moment of peace in their nightmare that was life.

"Psst" The individual called into a small blue tent close to the alley wall. A smaller figure stepped out with caution lingering in their eyes but as they saw the familiar individual before them, they immediately sprinted out with a joyous expression and hugged the person most important to them.

"Shhh" The older individual whispered as they glanced around them to make sure no one was looking before detaching themselves from the small figure and retrieving a bag of fruit and bread from their pouch. It was a small bag but would allow the small figure to survive for a week at the least.

"Arigato!" The small figure smiled.

The older individual stared at the small one before them. A boy with brown hair and eyes, a long scar running along their cheek from a time that was too painful to remember. The boy had been abandoned by his parents at an orphanage but unluckily for him, it wasn't one of Konoha's best orphanages.

The older individual had found him wandering the streets after he'd run away from being beaten by the older kids in the orphanage. They didn't like newcomers, especially the younger ones, as it meant their chances of being adopted were minimal. The boy had loved the lady who ran the orphanage like she was his own mother but she was old and didn't know about what the older kids did to the younger ones.

Every day, he'd think of her and hope she was doing okay.

The boy looked up to the figure that had taken him in and brought him food and water every week. He was mainly on his own but it was because of the person in front of him that he'd survived.

"Yuki..." A hard, cold, voice muttered the individual's name from behind the two.

The older individual turned at the sound of their name with a hard glint in their eyes taking over the loving side that'd been shown moments ago.

"Go inside" Yuki whispered to the boy, who all but ran back into his little blue tent.

The man that revealed Yuki's name stood tall with two others by his side, all there faces scarred with previous battles. Battles that weren't honor-filled nor that of a shinobi but that of a thief and truly monstrous being. These men would take children off the streets as long they did their bidding. They belonged to the poor side of the village, such as the place they stood in now, and they ran it even further into the ground. It was the men such as these that would be the reason Konoha would never truly know peace.
