Ch. 33: The Letter

Soda's POV:

Steve is laying on our bed in our bedroom. He's so upset. It's heartbreaking. I'm talking to Detective Johnson about Josh.

"So, you're saying that Josh has been wanted by the police for 3 years?" I ask.

"Yes, he's been accused of kidnapping, rape and murder." He says.

"Murder? Oh man."

I hear the door knock. I open it to see a mailman with a letter. "This is for Steve Randle."

"Thank you." I close the door after he hands me the letter. "Do you think this is a clue?"

"Open it." Johnson says.

"Wait, let me get Steve."

I run to our bedroom and see Steve half asleep. "Baby, wake up."

Steve sits up and rubs his eyes. "What's wrong?"

"There's a letter for you."

Steve grabs it and opens it. He covers his mouth to avoid crying again while reading it.

"What does it say?"

"It says; Steve, if you're reading this, I have your daughter. Don't worry, she's fine. For now. If you want your daughter back, you need to come to the back alley of the Dingo. Come alone. And dress nicely ;) No funny business, or I'll hurt your baby girl. I'll do what it takes for you to be mine. -Josh"

I don't want Steve going by himself to an alley with Josh. What if Josh tries to hurt him or rape him. He's still healing from the surgery. "Don't go Stevie. Josh will try and hurt you."

"I have to. It's our daughter."

"If you go, Josh will try and kill you. I don't want to loose you." I hug him.

"Please Soda, I want to save Natalie. It's our baby."

I let go of him. "Okay, but do we tell Johnson and Kiner?"

"No, Josh said no funny business, that means we can't tell anyone. So, tell them that I have to get some more pain killers from the pharmacy."

"Okay, please be careful." I hug him and he hugs back.

"I will."

I leave the room for Steve to change because it's wet with tears.

Steve's POV:

After Soda leaves the room, I change clothes because apparently Josh wants me to dress "nicely". After I change, I sneak out of the window, which is good because our room is on the second floor of our house, and I'm good at climbing.

I land on the ground smoothly and I run to the Dingo. I hope Josh isn't pulling tricks on me. I'll kill him if he hurts Natalie.

At the alley of the Dingo...

I stand and wait for Josh. It's getting really dark out here. I hope he brings Natalie with him. 

I hear a wolf whistle, and I turn to see Josh holding my baby.

"Hello sexy, you miss me?" He asks.
