Tony's POV

A/N I know I've been doing a lot of Tony's POV but I like writing from his perspective lol

Steve proposed to me 2 and a half weeks ago. The press still didn't know about our relationship and we were trying to keep it that way - but it was getting harder and harder. We had a press conference a while back and I forgot to take off my engagement ring - everyone caught onto it almost immediately and we had to cancel the conference because all of the questions were 'who's the lucky woman?'

"JARVIS, what are these tapes?" I was searching through my desk drawer and I'd found a dusty old box and once I opened it, I found videotapes. The labels were all worn down so I had no idea what they said.

"I'm unsure, sir. You've never watched them and I have no records of them." I nodded and frowned before grabbing two or three tapes and placing them on my desk. I plugged in the old tape player and plugged them in the projector. I pushed the first one in, grabbed a can of coke, a notepad and a pen and sat down. I thought I'd found the last of Dad's old tapes when Fury gave me that crate, but I guess not - we'd never seen these before and now, everything's digital. But when the screen popped up, it wasn't someone I anticipated - it was Steve.

"Hey, Rogers!" Someone I didn't quite know walked on.

"Mr Stark, hi. Sorry I'm late." My heart dropped. It was my dad. They were going through all of the shields he'd sampled and Steve grabbed one from under the table. Dad said it was vibranium - and all that we'd found. I didn't know if that was true, but I didn't care - he seemed so... kind. Genuine. Carefree. I mean it was World War 2 - he was probably more relaxed beforehand either way.

"Peggy, what do you think?" A woman I'd met once before in my life walked on. Curly red hair, bright red lipstick and a stern look on her face. She grabbed a gun from the table next to her and proceeded to shoot the shield.

"Seems like it works." She stalked off. Steve frowned. I did, too. I didn't have much time to be confused, because the next thing I saw was a weapons display. I'd never seen the guns on show before, so I frowned and scribbled 'Steve and dad, shield, guns' but I didn't think that was the end of the tape - and I wasn't wrong. Someone else walked in, speaking fluent Italian. The screen panned along and I saw another person I thought I'd never see again. Mom. I always knew at least one of her parents were Italian but I never knew which. American was her second language. I used to be able to speak it but I lost it, purely because I only ever spoke to her in Italian. She's not exactly here to talk to anymore. Somehow, though, I knew exactly what she was saying. I didn't even know they knew each other at this point - it was odd.

"Yes, I understand that none of this makes sense, but vibranium sources in Wakanda may show that they're lying and we may have to- yes, I know. Good day." The other person she was talking to left. She said all of that in Italian, I'm surprised I knew what she was saying. I added to my notes.

'MOM, dad, STEVE, shield, guns, vibranium' Dad walked over to her and said 'hi' and the clip cut off. I stuck a new label to the tape once ejected, wrote my most recent note on the label. Then, I put in the next one. I took a sip of my drink and waited for the picture to pop up. Except there was no picture, it was from a black box. Apparently this one was more recent - the label said it was a black box, recorded in '45 but found recently. Steve crashed the plane then... I guessed this was from his ship. That'd be why I had it. I recognised his voice and instantly paused it. I didn't want to listen to it. I thought Steve might want to, though.

"J, get Steve down here." A minute later, upon authorisation, Steve walked in.

"You okay?"

"I just... I found the tape from the black box... from when you went into the ice."
