Jimin's POV

Yoongi sat down next to me at the table, setting down a thick book. "In order to understand what you're going to be ruling over, you have to understand werewolves first."

He sighed and opened the book. "Werewolves emerged long ago with the first werewolves being a father and son. This is where the Alpha and Beta come in. The father and son discovered wolf pelts that had the power to turn people into wolves for ten days. The duo donned the pelts, transformed into wolves, and went on a killing rampage in the forest. Their rampage ended when the father attacked his son, causing a lethal wound. Upon seeing this, the moon goddess pitied the son."

"Rather than just being able to wear the pelts and stay in the wolf form for ten days, she granted him the power to shift at any point, forever, and take revenge. She healed the son and led him to his father, who no longer held the form of a wolf, but rather, a weak old man. The son shifted, but forgave his father, and asked the moon goddess to forgive him too."

"She forgave him and gave him the power to shift as well, deeming them her children with the son being the Alpha, and the father, the Beta. Together, they started the first lineage of werewolves. When the father died, the son wept as he no longer had anyone to share that life with him. The moon goddess pitied him once more and gifted him with Luna, the only other female shifter in the world."

"They went on to bond, mate, and reproduce. And thus, the werewolf began. All of the offspring called upon the goddess for mates as well and she gave them what they wanted as she saw them as her children. Some believe the moon goddess gave Luna the power to see all as her children because there were so many in the end, the goddess could not keep up anymore."

I nodded at his words and watched as he flipped a page. "Most people think of werewolves as myths, people who morph into vicious, powerful wolves or a mutant combination of human and wolf. They think all are bloodthirsty beasts who cannot control their lust for killing people and animals."

"That isn't true. While we do shift into powerful wolves, they forget to include that we carry our human side with us too. That is the only thing keeping us from going rogue. Basically, rogue wolves are werewolves who get lost within their wolf side and let them take over. Then they're vicious. But the majority of werewolves are civilized. We're vicious when we need to be."

I slowly raised my hand, Yoongi nodding at me. "Can humans be transformed into werewolves?"

Yoongi stared at me, his face going hard. "Yes. But you never will so don't even think about it."

"Well, at least tell me how it happens. I'll never do it but I'm intrigued to know." I argued. Yoongi seemed torn on what to do.

Finally, he gave in and sighed. "When wolves mate and bond, they leave a mark in the neck, right? Their teeth, or canines, seep into the skin and bloodstream these toxins. They aren't poisonous or venomous or anything like that. It's basically chemicals that, when entering the bloodstream, create a mark and a bond between the two wolves."

"When it comes to transforming humans into werewolves, we're talking about a whole other toxin. I'm talking neurotoxin; poisonous and destructive. Neurotoxins are an extensive class of exogenous chemical neurological insults that can adversely affect function. When a werewolf bites a human to transform them, most humans die."

"Werewolves are born with the genes to shift into a wolf form. When they're around fifteen, that chemical already born within them just snaps, thus causing shifting. Once they've shifted once, they can shift whenever, growing to control that chemical within. Humans aren't born with this. Their bones and tissue aren't coded to do so."

"That's why so many die. The neurotoxin injected into their blood starts the shifting process immediately, and it just... it breaks all of the bones in the wrong places and tears all of the flesh terribly. It's excruciating. They say being rejected or losing a mate is an unbearable pain, try shifting as a human." He puffed.

I swallowed hard and looked down at the book. "How many people have lived through it?" I asked softly.

Yoongi tilted his head a bit, thinking. "Well, it's not that often werewolves take humans as mates. It's really only happened a couple of hundred times. To my knowledge, out of let's say 100 times this happened, only 1 have survived."

"So 1 out of 100, it's not worth it." I nodded and flipped the page, Yoongi knowing to move on.

"So next we're going to talk about rejection and the bond. If a mate doesn't want their mate, they reject them. This is one of the most painful things because they're severing a bond that's supposed to be made."

"Same with death, it's like the bond being cut in half with your other half. When people mate, Jimin, they're mating for life. They don't just pick a random person and say, 'you, I want you,' no. They feel it. It's a pull in their soul and body, guiding them to the only person meant for them and only them."

"We only get one mate in our lifetime. So to face rejection or death... many kill themselves afterward. No one can go on without a mate. It's unbearable."

I raised my hand again. Yoongi nodded. "So Jungkook didn't just... choose me. He actually felt something within him that guided him to me."

Yoongi nodded with a smile. "Now you're getting it."

"So this bond between Jungkook and I... can I feel it?"

"You tell me. I'm a werewolf. I feel mine, not yours." Yoongi shrugged.

I thought about it. "Sometimes I feel like something inside of me just tells me to touch him and kiss him and love him, even though I don't know him."

Yoongi grinned wide and nodded at me. "That's it."

"So then I shouldn't fight it because it is telling me he is only mine and I am only his and we were born to be together."

Yoongi smiled and placed a hand over mine. "There you go. You knew." He said encouragingly. I smiled and nodded my head. "I know it's now fourteen days until you're supposed to mate, but still try to take it slow. You're still human, Jimin. You may understand how the bond works and how mating works and all of it, but you still need to take time."

I nodded at his words and looked back at the book which had flipped a few pages from the wind blowing into the house.

"Okay, ready to learn about all of the wars and packs?" Yoongi grinned.

I groaned and put my head down against the table. "This feels like history class all over again."

Yoongi laughed and patted my back. "I'll tie a cool feather in your hair and give you the traditional pack braid if you're good?" He tempted. I quickly sat up and looked eagerly at the page.

"Works every time." Yoongi laughed.
