I felt so giddy reading the messages between Jermey and I. He makes me feel so special, but I'm also not trying to get my hopes up.

I just hung up the phone after our hour and a half long conversation of anything and everything. I stretched my body out across my bed and realized that it was already 9 pm. I needed to shower and make dinner for tonight.

"Come on Nala" I called my dog to the back door to let her out.

My back yard is surrounded by fences so I just let her out and leave the back door open for her to roam freely as I started making dinner. One thing I noticed since this pandemic has started is that I can't cook worth shit. I am so used to going out to eat at restaurants, I'm not that into fast food.

I make easy things like spaghetti, which coincidentally is what I'm having tonight, for the third time this week.

Nala made her way back into the house and I shut the door and locked it which seemed stupid because of the front door being broken.

I sat and ate my food and made my way into the shower. I get antsy in my apartment alone, but I am grown so I try to put the bad thoughts to the back of my head.

Nala barks echo through the house as I try and hurry up the process of showering so I can get out and make sure she's just barking at nothing, which is usually the case.

I turned the shower head off and wrapped my body up into a towel. I made my way to living room where Nala was consistently barking. She was faced towards the front door and I slowly made my way to see what she was barking at. The front door was completely open. My heart dropped. I hurried and shut the door quickly and pushed my body weight against the wood.

I try and not let my mind get the best of me but I reached over to the side table next to my couch and grab the small pistol I have just for emergencies. I roam through my small apartment which now somehow feels like a mansion. I made the turns quickly with the pistol reached out in front of me. As I made my way up the steps I had a feeling I was just being crazy.

I had made it to the last room, my bedroom and thankfully there was no sign of anyone in my apartment. I set the pistol down on my tv stand and proceeded to get dressed. Maybe the wind blew the door open? Maybe one of my friends had stopped by and left the door open? I kept coming up with excuses basically anything to calm myself. I decided to just lay down and scroll through Instagram.

I was startled awake by my phone going off.

"Hello?" I said confused. I don't even know what time it is. I must have fallen asleep when I was going through my phone.

"Hey baby" I heard on the other line. I immediately sat up and smiled. Jeremy.

"What's up? You alright?" I asked as I checked my phone to see it was now 1:38 am.

"Of course, just missing you. Did I wake you up?"

"Yeah, but it's okay. I didn't even mean to fall asleep. I have the craziest story for you!" I exclaimed as I started telling him the story about what had happened earlier. He reassured me and said it was most likely nothing.

We talked for another half hour, but he is a truck driver and his work schedule is crazy weird.

I got up out of bed and made my way to the kitchen. A bowl of cereal sounds like it would hit the spot right now for some reason. I heard Nala upstairs start to whimper from inside her crate. I quickly made my bowl of cereal and went back upstairs so she didn't think I was leaving her.

I sat on my bed and continued my scroll through Instagram as I finished the bowl. I found myself on amazon looking through home security devices. Most of them were extremely expensive but I felt like it was necessary. I added one to my cart and made my purchase. This should make me feel more comfortable.

I ended up buying a door bell with a camera on it and 4 different cameras to go throughout my apartment. They all hook up to my phone so that way when I'm not home I can just go into the app and see what's going on inside.

I got back up to turn the light off and sat my phone down on the tv stand and realized that something wasn't right.

Where's the pistol?
