I smile as I pull the door open to my 2nd month of 8th grade. Tessa smiles and runs up to me.

"Hey!!!" She pulls me into a hug.

"I hear there's a hot new guy."

"You're in a relationship!"

"I'm talking about you. I heard your parents finally gave in to you dating."

"What's his name?" I close my locker and I run into someone, making my books fall to the ground.

"Damn! I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there!" I laugh a little.

"It's fine, I wasn't-" I look up and I'm met with a pair of beautiful dark blue eyes.

"Looking where I was going." I finish. We stare at each other. He helps me up and I smile at him.

"Thanks." He gives me a smile then holds out my history book.

"Here." I take it and our hands touch.

"Thank you again." He looks down at his schedule.

"Can you help me? I have history with Mr. Saltzman."

"Of course. I have first period there too."

"Cool. Can we swap and see what classes we have?"

"Sure." I hand him mine and he hands him his.

1- History, Saltzman
2- French, Loúre
3- Geometry, Jameson
4- Lunch
5- Language Arts, Wilson
6- Art, Trent
7- Family and Consumer Science, Armstrong
8- Science, Gray

I drop my jaw.

"We have the same schedule."

"Wow. That's awesome." I smile at him.

"Mr. Saltzman is actually my adoptive grandpa."

"What happened?"

"My Mom's parents drove off Wickery Bridge the night she met my Dad." He nods.

"How old was she?"

"She was almost 17."

"How old was she when she had you?"

"She was 19."

"Yeah. My Mom was 15. And I'm Damian by the way."

"Ember." He smiles.

"It suits you. You have a beautiful flame in your eyes." I blush a little.

"Come on. I know Mr. Saltzman will tell my father who will kill me if I'm late." We head to class and we sit in the last 2 available seats. I smile at him and Grandpa Ric clears his throat. I snap my head in his direction and I bite my lip.

After class, Mr. Saltzman keeps me after class.

"Who the hell is that?"

"I haven't decided yet."

"Should I be concerned?"

"Nope. And don't tell my Dad, please Grandpa Ric?" He nods slowly. I smile then I head to the next class. During lunch, Damian sits down by me and takes a note out. He slides it over and my heart jumps with joy as I read it.

WILL YOU GO TO HOMECOMING WITH ME?

I smile.

"Yes." I smile and he returns it. He surprises me by pulling me into a small kiss. When we pull away, I smile at him.

"Yeah. That'll do." He smiles then we head to the rest of our classes.

Damon's POV

I pull myself off the couch when there's a knock on the door.
