The First Day

I sit up in bed. It's been 2 weeks since we came home and I found out I was pregnant, making me 10 weeks along. I run a hand through my hair, then before I know it, I'm running to the bathroom. I throw up all the blood bags in my stomach. I lean up against the wall, taking a few deep breaths. I'm surprised to find a little bump poking out from under my shirt. I close my eyes and I press a hand to my forehead, settling myself. The only thing better than being a vampire with heightened emotions is being a pregnant hormonal vampire with heightened emotions. Yay?

I get up off the floor and I brush my teeth. I shower then change into a pair of jeans and a white ruffled tank top. I pull on my brown leather boots that end just below my knee then I grab my bag. I go into the kitchen to pick up my thermos.

"Morning." I smile at Mom who's wrestling a tiny Damien into his jacket.

"You're going back to school today?"

"I have to. Granted I'm not too excited about seeing Damian, but apples oranges." She laughs.

"Your thermos is in the cabinet. I have to get him to daycare then I have to meet your Aunt at the grill."

"Okay." I grab a couple blood bags from downstairs. Dad comes in as I fill the thermos up. Mom turns and they both smile at me.

"What?" He holds something up. I look closer and it's a set of keys with a sparkly E on it.

"Happy early birthday." A huge smile makes its way across my face.

"You didn't." I set down the empty blood bag and I run outside. I squeal when I see a royal blue Lexus sitting out in front of the house. I run down the steps then I turn back to face my smiling parents on the porch.

"Are you kidding me?!?"

"No we're not kidding you. You wanted a car for your 17th birthday, we got you a car." I run back up and I hug them.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I go inside and I grab my bag and blood then I go back outside. Dad throws me the keys.

"Drive safe, Ember Rose. You have 2 lives to take care of now."

"I will." I climb inside, smiling as I hear the soft purr of the engine. I step on the gas and I start driving. I go to pick up Tessa. We usually give her a ride in the mornings. I knock on the door.

"Bye Mom!" She yells. I grin at her.

"You're... Perky."

"Let's just say that I've already gotten my birthday wish." I step aside to reveal the car.

"Oh. My. God." Her jaw drops as we walk down.

"Your Mom and Dad got you this?"

"Yup. It's all mine."

"It's amazing!"

"I know right?" She laughs.

"How's the little one this morning?"

"Morning sickness is a bitch, but survivable."

"Are you sure I can't kill Damian?"

"He might have knocked me up, but I still love him." She sighs.

"Ember..."

"What? We dated for almost 4 years." She heaves a heavy breath. "Point taken?"

"Point received." She gets into the passenger then I drive us to school.

"So what are you going to say to him today?"

"I have no idea." We get out then I take a deep breath.
