Your POV
•-•-•-•-•My gaze locks on Markus as he turns to face North, her doing the same towards him.
He cups her face and kisses her, causing a smile to grow on my face as I refrain from letting any more salty tears fall.
I look to see the soldiers reactions, and they had backed up some, shocked.
Their guns are lowered a moment later.
This stuns me, but relief takes over shortly after. Putting my gun away, I hug my friends firmly, glad that we're going to live to see another day.
Glad that they've finally gotten their freedom.
Those of us who remain walk down the street, only to see thousands more androids coming our way, all being lead by one very special android.
Connor.
He meets us in the middle, briefly standing directly in front of Markus, who begins to give a speech to us all while holding North.
Connor approaches and looks concerned by my injuries, but overlooks them for now and hugs me. I melt into his arms, never having felt so happy as I am in this moment.
We listen to Markus as we just stay in one another's embrace. Eyes shut, breathing even.
"Today, our people finally emerged from a long night. From the very first day of our existence, we have kept our pain to ourselves. We suffered in silence... But now the time has come for us to raise our heads up, and tell humans who we really are.
"To tell them that we are people too! In fact, we're a nation. A nation that has earned the right to live in freedom. And today... Today begins the most challenging moment in our fight. The moment where we forget our bitterness and bandage our wounds.
"Where we forgive our enemies. Humans are both our creators and our oppressors, and tomorrow... We must make them our partners. Maybe even one day our friends.
"But the time for anger is over. Now we must build a common future, based on tolerance and respect. We are alive! And now, we. Are. Free!"
Everyone around us cheers, more than elated. Of course, there are more challenges to come our way, but I know that we'll get past them.
We always do.
Connor pulls back and stares into my eyes, gently holding my chin so I look into his. He smiles a little, "I still owe you something."
"Oh?" I question playfully, my grin widening.
His does too as he continues, "Yeah, for what happened back at the Eden Club."
"I completely forgot about that," I state with a small laugh. He chuckles as well.
"Well, I didn't, and I still fully intend on returning the favor."
"And how are you gonna do that?" I tease.
Connor smirks, leaning in as his voice lowers, "Like this."
Our eyes fall shut as he kisses me softly, my arms moving to wrap loosely around his neck as his stay around my waist.
I take a little step forward, wanting to get as close to him as possible.
Just like our hands, we fit perfectly together.
He holds me just a bit tighter, securely against him as our lips move slowly in sync.
My heart practically races a million miles an hour, I'm so nervous and excited.
He traces little patterns onto my skin with his finger, my own hands slipping to hold onto his jacket as I keep our body proximity pretty much non-existent.
When we pull apart, we smile and laugh a little, just staring into each other's eyes as we rock from side-to-side. The cheers having faded into the background.
The future is uncertain, but what I know for sure is that no matter what's thrown our way, we'll be alright.
I know that for a fact.
