Shattered. To cause to break or burst suddenly into pieces, as with a violent blow.

Insignificant. Too small or unimportant to be worth consideration.

Foolish. Lacking good sense of judgement; unwise.

Elaine put on the most fake smile she could muster after she saw that photograph. She wasn't sure how long she would last before her composure crumbled.

Seeing that photo had sliced her to the bone. Her heart silently broke as she realized it was David. His wedding. His wedding day. With his wife. His wife.

And they were happy. Really happy.

During the drive up from Chrissy's, Elaine sat quietly, lost in thought.

She had never seen a more happier moment and it made her sick. He had loved his wife. Of course. But seeing just how much blew Elaine away.

How would he ever be able to love again? His love of his life was taken from him.

Elaine held her sobs while Chrissy dropped her off.

"I had fun today honey. Don't let that picture bother you darlin'. You know David-

Elaine brought Chrissy in for a quick hug, cutting her off.

"Yes I know. No I'm fine. I had fun too. Thank you Chrissy," she said somberly as she hopped out of the rig.

Chrissy then pulled out of the drive and drove off.

Tears silently fell down Elaine's cheeks as she walked toward the house. She let them fall. She noticed David's truck was missing. He was out of the house.

Walking across the porch, she froze as she stared at the figure waiting by the stairs. Her blood ran cold.

"Rico," she breathed as fear settled in.

The gravel crunched sickeningly underneath his boots as slowly stalked towards her.

"It's been awhile," he rumbled as he smiled evilly.

Elaine took a step backward looking around her. Nothing.

He advanced towards her.

"Your man ain't home. No one to interrupt what we didn't get to finish earlier."

Elaine was now shrinking in fear.

"Please," she whimpered.

"Shut up bitch."

She turned to run and escape, but was grabbed painfully by her hair and yanked backward roughly.

She let out a piercing scream.
