"Uh...I was moving stuff around and slipped and when uh um I fell a plate him me in the face." I answered as I quickly looked away.

"Oh really? What about the chair?  Cone on man...what the hell happened to you?  Be straight with me." He replied as he reached for my arm.

I snapped back, "you want the truth...fine here's the truth.   Your sister and ex came over starting shit.  The pushed their way into my apartment.  We ended up in a scuffle and then they left.   This isn't going to cut it Bruno.  I'm not going to get harassed by people I don't know because of you, because of us.if this is what's going to be going on then I think we would be better off going or separate ways."

"Why didn't you call me.  I swear those two are gonna get an earful of what I have to say about this.   This is bullshit. " he said as he slammed his hand into his steering wheel.  "What do you mean go our separate ways? I will fix this.  I really like you...why? I don't honestly know know. Something about just draws me in.  So no we aren't going or separate ways." He said in a very angry tone.

The drive to work was quiet.  I didn't know what to say so I didn't say anything at all.  I had a knot in my stomach so drinking my hazelnut macchiato was almost impossible.   When we got to the hospital Bruno squeezed my thigh and said,  "I have some stuff to do all day so I won't be picking you up.   I'll call you later this evening. "  he looked away and didn't say bye.  I knew he was upset and that upset me.   I knew I had to leave my feelings at the door when I walked into work.   I put on a smile and did what I had to do.   Around 2pm my boss called to tell me Diane was in town and she would meet me at the hospital.

The bus ride home wasn't so bad with Diane there.   We caught up on all our gossip and then some.   The bus stop was a few blocks from the apartment complex.  We walked up the big hill and passed the Creed Co. Building.  I noticed Bruno's black Cadillac in the almost empty parking lot.  Diane knew exactly what I was looking at as we walked by, "go get him tiger. "  She chuckled.  "No,  he said he was busy. I'll just wait for him to call me later. "  I replied.

That evening my phone was silent.   "I figured your boy would have called you by now" Diane said when she noticed me staring at my phone during dinner.   "Eh, I'm sure he'll text me later.   He does have his hands full being Bruno Mars" I replied.  We knew we had a busy day tomorrow,  we were actually going to have to do patient care. We called it a night at around 8:30pm.  The next morning I expected to see at least a text from Bruno but there wasn't one.  I wasn't going to let myself get emotionally attached,  I had only known him for a few days.

Diane and I arrived to work right on time.  "Riding the bus sucks, I don't like this big city nonsense. " Diane said as we walked in the main doors.  "I know I'm so used to getting everywhere in ten minutes back home.   But it's not that bad I guess.  Change is good." I replied.

We got our patient assignments and headed off to our destinations.  Our first patient was a motor vehicle accident, 28 y.o. male with multiple rib fractures, a fractured right humerus and multiple contusions.  "Well let's get him up and moving"  I said as I grabbed the patient chart off the chart rack.  The nurse approached us prior to going in the room and said, "ladies he's a special case, be gentle."   Diane and I looked at eachother and shrugged as we approached the door.

*knock knock* " Mr.  Hernandez it's physical therapy.  May we come in?" Diane stated.

"Come in" a female voice replied.

I came around the curtain to find Bruno in the bed and Jessica sitting at his side with a smirk on her face.
