Accidental Encounter

8. One night alone

A week had passed Bruno had now been home for a few days.   He was now able to walk around without help, his pain was gone,  and his syncope episodes have gone away.  His sisters have been taking turns spending the days with Bruno while I am work. 

4pm

"Hey Bruno. How's my baby been today." I asked as I walked into his living room.

"Hey boo. You know your boy is getting taken care of.  Jaime is doing great.  But I don't need that much help.  I'm coo." He replied as he stood up from the couch and pulled me in for a hug.

"So I have to go back to Colorado for a week.  I have to leave tomorrow afternoon." I said.

"What? Why?" He questioned.

"I have to present some information about the program I'm here working for.  It's only a week.   While I'm there I'm going to see if I can get a permanent transfer out here.  So cross your fingers." I said as I kissed his button nose. 

Presley and Tiara walked in laughing as Tahiti ran up behind them. 

"You betches think you're funny" Tahiti laughed as she pulled Tiara's flannel shirt from around her waist.  

"Hey! Stop picking on my little Tahiti." Jaime said as she entered the living room.  "Once Eric and Pops get here we can eat." Jaime continued as she headed back into the kitchen. 

Tiara hadn't talked to since the day she showed up at my apartment.  I tried to make small talk with her but she would always walk away.   I was mad but I wasn't going to hold a grudge and make it uncomfortable for Bruno so I sacked up my pride and gave it another try.

"Hey Tiara, wanna come check out this song I've been working on?  I need another ear because it just doesn't sound right to me." I said as Bruno squeezed my hand.

Tiara rolled her eyes and Presley nudged her towards me, "I'll check it out after dinner.  I have to make a phone call right now."

Tiara and the girls disappeared into the back yard. 

"Why don't you like her?  She seems like a nice person.  Look how happy brother gets when she's around." Said Tahiti.

"Because my best friend lost the love of her life and her happy life to that basic as little bitch." Tiara snapped.

"It's not her fault.  If Bruno wasn't happy he wouldn't have wandered off on Jess." Presley replied.

"It is her fault.  She only wants him for his money and fame.  She doesn't know shut about this lifestyle.  Look at her.  She's so ugly and poor." Tiara yelled.

"Dontcha think she would be more concerned with taking him for all he has if that was her intention.   Come on, the girl works all the time.  She's never asked brother for a thing.   At least not when I'm around.  I think she truly cares for him." Added Tahiti.  

"You can believe whatever you want.  Move! I'm gonna go call Jessica." Tiara said as she pushed her sisters out of the way.

"That was a quick conversation" Presley said as Tiara walked back towards them.

"She didn't answer.   I'm worried. I haven't heard from her in over a week."Tiara replied.

"She's a grown ass woman.  She probably went back to New York. Give her some space and time. " said Tahiti.

"If you don't get in here I'm going to eat all this food!" Yelled Bruno from the back door.

After dinner Bruno went to lie down for a while.  Presley and Tahiti helped Jaime clean the kitchen and Eric went with Pops to rent some movies.  Tiara grabbed me by the arm and pulled me over to the piano. "Let's hear it." She said.
