After I ignored Mike's message I felt kind of bad. Something bad could have happened and I wouldn't have been able to do anything about it. I thought it was a message saying he got in or one of his "wyd" texts. It was.
*Wyd*, I check and see he sent.
*I just woke up*, I send. I did just wake up.
*You sleep weird*, he sends.
*LMFAOOOO whats that supposed to mean*, I send him.
*You be texting me at 4 in the morning*, he sends.
*Thats just when I get up*, I send.
*You barely be sleeping ma*, he sends.
*I-I do sleep...I pass out*, I send.
*Whatever you say ma...I have a question*, he sends.
*What is it*, I send.
*What stuff you like*, he sends.
*Huh*, I send.
*What stuff you like*, he sends with a laughing emoji.
*You mean like brands*, I send.
*Yea*, he sends.
*I shop at Pretty Little Things alot and I like Vans, bodysuits, lashes and necklaces*, I send.
*Gotchu*, he sends.
*Why*, I send.
*Nothing*, he sends.
*I-ok*, I send.
*Im rey go to sleep cause we have school in the morning*, he sends. It's still early it's only 4 in the morning.
*Its still early, Im not sleepy yet*, I send.
*You crazy*, is the last message he sends. I'm pretty sure he went to sleep but it's okay.
The next morning I get ready for school and get Warren to school so I can go to mine. It wasn't too much of a hassle this morning because Warren was cooperating and Brandi didn't make me come in her bed to sleep with Warren when she went to work, he didn't wake up out of his sleep.
"Bye Warren", I say as he gets out of the car.
"Bye Kay Kay", he says and walks to his friends. I am surprised he has friends because he is weird and loud. I'm glad though 'cause I don't want anyone picking on him like I thought they would. But I guess little kids are all the same, loud and weird.
As the Lyft pulls up to the school I can see Mike standing against the brick wall near the front. He looks good, as he always does, wearing all black with a blue jean jacket over his hoodie and a black cap. He is talking with some guys I haven't seen too often. When I get closer he sees me and they disperse.
"Hey ma", he says walking up to me and pulling me by my waist into a hug.
"Hey daddy", I say. Wait did I just call him daddy...out loud? Oops.
He just laughs, grabs my tote, and opens the door for us to go inside. It's the usual packed scene with people talking way too damn loud for it to be morning time and standing blocking the walkway. We go find the spot where he sits and waits for me to leave theater and stand there. Some guy is in the chair and Mike makes him move. He puts my tote beside the chair and his small, most likely empty, bookbag next to it.
"Come here", he says after sitting down on the chair. I look around and then at him, and he motions for me to sit. I sit down on his lap with my back towards him.
