The school bell rings. I begin to walk home when a voice yelled out behind me,
"Hey Darcy, wait up!" Called Jake, he is my frenemy. I have hated Jake ever since I had met him. But Jake wants to be buddy buddy with me. " What are you doing this arvo'?"
"Homework." I lied.
"That's too bad, I was wondering if we could hang out together, but hey, I have homework too, maybe we could work together?"
I roll my eyes before I can stop myself, and hope Jake didn't see it.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
He did see it. "Nothing, I just have a headache coming on, and it's been on and off all day so now I'm annoyed. That's all." I lie again.
"Oh, ok. Well maybe another time, then? Like, tomorrow?" Jake must be desperate to have some company.
In a way I feel sorry for him. "Uh, damn. I have the family coming over then. We will organise something." I say unwillingly. We pull up out the front of my house. "Bye, then."
He waves. "Bye Darcy, I will see you soon then."
I give him a final nod and walk inside.
