I was on to something, and Sam knew it. She just didn't want to believe it. For the rest of the drive we stay silent. I guess she was worrying about her Mum, if I was in her place, I would be too.

We sit outside the room that holds her sick Mum captive, and think rather than speak.
A nurse walks into the waiting area after at least half an hour.
"I'm sorry," she begins. "But we can't let you in at the moment. She will be in here for a few days. At the moment she seems fine. We can't figure out what's wrong with her though."
"Thank you." Says Sam.
I take her hand as the nurse walks away. "We should go now, and you should get some rest." I tell her, but I think she already had that idea. She nods and we get up to walk away.

In the car, we were silent once again. I wanted to speak, to tell her that everything would be ok, but I didn't know that for sure myself. Even if I did I wouldn't speak up, I knew she'd want some time for herself to think.

"Last time I saw her before this," she starts. "I had a fight with her. She got really angry at me."
I turn my head to face her, and look in to her eyes. I've never noticed how beautiful they are before.
She stares at the road in front of us.
"I just want this to be all gone." She says with the emotion that it never will.
"I'll make sure it does, ok?"
She looks at me. "Thank you." And
we drive on down the road.

We pull up outside my house, and say our good byes. I start towards the house and can see Mums angry eyes peering at me through the window.
I promised her this morning that I would be home in an hour before I left for Sam's. It's been three times that amount. Sam and I had been waiting at the hospital for a while.
As soon as I walk inside she starts yelling almost instantly and is furious.
"Darcy Lee James! Are you crazy? You say you will be home in an hour and three hours after you come home. I made it clear to you that you couldn't miss the interview with the principle! And you don't even call me to say your alright! I was worried sick about you!"
And then she bursts into tears.
"Go to your room."
I stand there, thinking of a way to explain to her about Sam's Mum.
"I said now."
"Just hear me out."
"No, Darcy I don't want to hear what you have to say at the moment. Stay in your room for the rest of the night."
I walk, head down and into my room. Damn, I have school tomorrow. Nothing is ever going to feel the same again, is it?
I fall onto my bed, and try to pretend that everything is normal. But it's extremely hard and I don't succeed anyway.

Sorry, this was a short chapter, but I promise to try and make the rest a little bit longer.

-thanks, Adelle
