I run down the street, take a turn to the left and keep running. I'm almost at my friends house. I turn right and then I arrive. In the left hand corner of the street is Alice's house. I knock on the door. "Hey, it's Sam." I call.
The door opens and Alice's Mum appears. "Hello Sam, I thought your Mum called to say you wouldn't be coming over tonight?" She asks suspiciously.
"No, she let me out. Her idea really, she insisted." I lie through my teeth.
"Hey Sammy, come in!" Calls Alice from upstairs.
Her Mum steps aside and lets me inside the house.
"Horrible weather, isn't it?" Asks her Mum.
"Yeah, in some ways I hate England, the weather is apart of that." I smile politely.
She gives me back a large smile. Too large and obviously fake. I walk upstairs to find my friend.
"Hey Sammy. How did you get here?"
"Well I snuck out."
"I knew that your Mum wouldn't just let you out. Why were you in trouble?"
"For smoking and telling everyone about it. How do you think I will get punished?" I seek advice. Alice is really good at predicting parents decisions. It's a gift.
"Does your Dad know yet?"
"No."
"Well, once he finds out he won't know what to do. He will be shocked and will have to think about it before he actually punishes you. So I'm guessing this is the last time you will be let outside." She laughs.
"Gee, that's good to know. But-" she cuts me of.
"Guess what!?"
"What?" I sigh.
"Jace is coming to the movies with us tonight! He is also bringing his friend along, so, maybe...?" She pulls a face towards me.
I shake my head. "Nothing can happen between a stranger and I who don't even know the name of, in one night. But also-" she cuts me off again.
"You know how we both like photography? Well there is this competition and the first place wins a thousand dollars. Maybe we could enter?"
"Um, yeah. Sure."
"So what can we do while we wait? They will be like half an hour."
"Truth or dare?" I begin.
