So here I am, again, packing my stuff once again. This is what I usually do, move to one place from another, and never settle somewhere, but this was gonna change today since I'm moving to Outer Banks, for good now. Let me tell you my story.

My name is Natalie Smith and I'm now 17 years old. Since I was born, I lived in the Outer Banks, I lived in Figure Eight, the rich side of the island since my parents are both lawyers, and made a lot of money, they liked to have that lifestyle... Living there is when I meet Kiara, my childhood best friend, and neighbour, we were inseparable when we were kids because she wasn't like the other kids on our side of the island, she was... normal. The people on Figure Eight were usually snobs who think they're too good for other people and they only cared about money and appearance. And the reality is they are the worst, that's how I found a connection with Kiara, we both loved to take surf lessons and tan, just talk about life and chill, be normal people.

When I was 9, my mom died in a car accident, and that's when my father decided we needed to move, we moved from one city to another, because he started getting more involved with work and with his partners, so we were moving to different places constantly for 7 years. I think that was my father's method to cope with the fact he was now raising a teenager daughter by himself and lost his wife all at the same time, so he worked a lot and I barely saw him, he was all day at the office or out while I was at school or at home with some random nanny. I don't blame him though, I can't imagine if that happened to me how would I react.

So as you can tell, It caught me by surprise when my father decided it was time to come back home, to the Outer Banks, where we belonged.

I started packing my bags nervous, moving wasn't stressful for me because I was so used to it at this point, but now it was different, we were moving there for good this time. What if I don't find any friends? Would the people on Figure Eight still annoying snobs? Would Kiara still be living there? and more importantly, would she want to be my friend again?

I had a knot in my stomach so I rolled up a joint and smoked it to see if that can calm me down, and it really did. I don't know why I'm this nervous, it's like I've never moved before. After smoking my joint I headed downstairs to get something for dinner, smoking always gets me hungry. I saw my dad in the kitchen.

- "Hey dad" - I said walking to the fridge and grabbing a pizza to make me for dinner.

- "Hey sweetie, have you finished packing? We're moving tomorrow, are you excited?" - He said while he was eating his dinner.

- "Yeah, I'm almost finished, just have to pack the things from the bathroom and I'm all done.. and yeah.. yeah... I'm... excited" - I shuttered.

- "You don't seem very excited" - he paused - "is everything okay?"

- "I.. I just.. I don't know" - I said putting my pizza in the oven - "I'm so used to move from one place to another, being there a short period and then moving again, not having any real friends and being by myself a lot" - I said gasping - "I just.. don't know, I'm afraid to move for real to a place, what I don't find friends? Then I have no excuse, now it's like, well... I'm moving in a few months so I don't bother making any relationships or bond with anyone"

- "What about Kiara?" - Dad said

- "What about her? I haven't spoken with her or make contact in 10 years, she moved on, she will have new friends, who knows if she even remembers me"

- "Don't say that, you'll see everything is going to work out. You will find friends, go to school, have a normal life, I know that's what you want, even though you say you're fine with all these movings and not being settled in one place for more than four months." - He got up and hugged me - "You need to have a normal teenager life, you are going to spend an amazing summer, meet new friends and have some amazing times, I know you loved the Outer Banks, the beach, the surfing classes, maybe you can go back to that, to keep your mind off things, maybe you'll meet someone there"

- "Yeah, you're right, I need to stop worrying, it's gonna be fine. It's not like I don't have friends, I just don't get attached a lot because at the end of the day I know we will move soon, but now It's different, I can actually try to meet new interesting people, and you know what? I will come back to my surfing classes" - I said confidently.

My dad was right, it's not like I've never had friends, usually, I would hang out with some of my father's friends sons or daughters, but I could make friends easily, I was an outgoing person, but I would never get involved seriously with anyone because I knew one day or another, I would move out again and I didn't want to get attached to anyone for that particular reason, but now, it's different, now I can.

I grabbed my pizza from the oven and came back to my room, I devoured the pizza and finished packing the stuff in my bathroom so I could have everything ready for tomorrow, then I sat on my bed scrolling through my phone when I fell asleep.

Hi! So I just started writing this story because most of the stories written about Outer Banks are following the plot of the first season and they were all the same, so I thought I would spice some things up. The characters are the ones on the show, but the plot is not like anything on the show, so I hope you like it!
