My routine became very hectic. After class, I worked on my assignments and do some research then went to the restaurant to work. It became like this since I started my part time a month ago. I became very exhausted doing those works all together, but I really don’t care of my exhaustion as long as I make money, do my assignments and enjoy my work.

Today, my shift will begin at 7:30, I moved quickly after my class, made some research and do some assignments then went to the restaurant.

I changed into our uniform and before the clock strikes 7:30 I am already ready. I started serving a couple, they were so sweet maybe a newlywed, they ordered steak and a bottle of wine, I took their orders and gave it to the chef, while waiting for their orders, I took the orders of other table to not keep them waiting.

I am really efficient and I know I can handle everything. I delivered every orders to each table and wish them happy dinner and went back to serve again. It took me half an hour before I noticed that the restaurant was really quite. They often had band who will sing romantic songs for the customers but this time, there isn’t any.

That’s really odd. Maybe I could ask Mathelda about it.

I went to find Mathelda and I saw him being scolded by Mr. Dela Vesa, it made me curious why he was scolded,

I never thought he could make a mistake, his really good on his job. I don’t want to eavesdrop to their conversation but Mr. Dela Vesa’s word was so loud, I couldn’t help it.

“What will you do now Matt?” “You said, you will take care of the band but now, where are they?” Mr. Dela Vesa said shouting.

“I know sir, I am really sorry, I will find a way sir” he said with his head low.

“Of course you have to find a way! I will give you half an hour to find a substitute!” he said leaving Matthew in ajar. I hid myself so that boss will not saw me peeking into them. When he was already out, I went to Matt to console him.

“Matt, you okay?” I asked him concerned.

“No, Mia, huhuhuhu, where can I get a band in just 30 minutes?” he said sobbing.

“I…..I don’t know”, I told him the truth, I want to help him but I don’t know how. Then an idea hits me.

“I know what to do, let’s go!” I said to him happily.

We are now preparing at the back of the restaurant’s mini stage. I changed my uniform into a long silver gown that glittered every time the light passed it. My black shoes were change into white stiletto and I wore a silver mask to hide my identity.

The idea I told to Matt was me. I will be the substitute singer. Boss didn’t say anything about a singer or a band, he just said a “substitute”, so I volunteered myself to sing. I really want to help Matt, he became my best companion while staying in this restaurant, it’s about time to pay him back.

I am not really a good singer in front of many people that is why I asked Matt if he have outfits for me and a mask to hide myself and thank God he has. This way I will be much more confident.

I really love to sing and often got complemented because of it. This time I have to prove to myself that somehow I changed not only on my physical appearance but also on my mental and emotional aspect. This could be a great opportunity to prove to myself that I can be a better version of who I am.

I stand at the center stage, the dim light penetrated by the resto lamp was giving me a confident aura. When the spotlight was focused on me, I startled and my hands were shaking. I was about to jump off the stage when I saw Matt at the corner, he was rooting for me.

It was my suggestion. I have to stand for it. You can do it Mia!
