When The Devil Noticed Her

Chapter 14

Mia's Pov

This is it! The waiting is finally over.

Today is Friday, I am so excited for today’s event. I am now sitting in the theatre room of the university with my bff’s. They were so supportive of me. The International Competition for Modern Architectural Design will took place in our university. The room was now filled with students from our school and from other schools. We, as contestants have our own chair near the stage, but I wanted to sit with my bff’s for now, I will take a seat later if all the contestants were there. As the emcee started his speech I bid my goodbye to my best friends and took my spot near the stage.

I am now sitting next to Sarah. I hate her guts and I know she hates me more. I ignored her and focus my attention to the person talking. The emcee gave the microphone to the CEO of the greatest Construction Company in the country, he is Mr. Levi Nor Mossini, a Russian business man who made his way to the top at the age of 45. He is a tycoon in this world.

“Good morning Ladies and gentleman”, Mr. Mossini started. We are all listening to his speech. He talk about architecture and the designs that we submitted that made him attend the awarding ceremony.

“I am delighted to be part of this competition. I discovered lots of potential from our contestants here”, he pointed us as he said those words. It made my heart full. I don’t know why but I think he is talking to me, though he was pointing to all of us.

“You have a lot to discover when moving forward in this career. I know this is one of the most difficult course but think of it as a blessing. Think of it, you are still breathing now despite the hardship that you have encountered. Congratulations for that!” he said. I feel like crying, I am sinking into his warm words. He continued his speech and everyone listened to his every words. No wonder he is a tycoon, he really knows how to persuade people through his words. He ended his words with a wide smile. Everyone gave him a standing ovation.

Now, the microphone was back to the emcee, this time is the most awaited part “the awarding of winners”.

I am now in the back stage contemplating. I landed 4th in the competition. I worked hard on it and I barely sleep myself because of it but I only got the 4th place. While in the other hand, the Devil Kai got the first place, he even surpass Shion our sophomore, he got the 2nd place. The 3rd place came from other school I don’t know his name cause I really am down. I won 30,000 as a prize I must be thankful but that was not my goal, my goal is to let Kai and Sarah know that I can do something, but I loss. I have no face to stand against Kai. He was so different and he is out of my league.

Why I am feeling this again?

I am grieving at the moment when Sarah entered the back stage, I know why she is here. She will totally look down on me because I failed but I have to fight her if she will provoke me.

“Hey ugly bitch” she started. I look at her in the eyes, I don’t want her to degrade me anymore. I know I am a failure but it doesn’t mean she can call me names she wanted.  

“Yes Loser!” I replied locking eyes with her. She was taken aback, she thought I will not defy her? Well, let’s see who will end up crying.

“Why are you here? What do you want from me “loser”?” I emphasized the last word. She must understand that she has no right to call me names, she didn’t even placed in the competition.

“Now you’re showing your true self!” she replied back. She’s really a bitch. I am like this to her because she always degrade me.

I just stay silent. I don’t want to give her satisfaction.
