Chapter Twenty-Four Bailey

Gavin took us to a park that bordered a lake. You could definitely tell it was a hot spot for camping, or just a day out under the sun and a swim in the lake during the summer weather.

Although it wasn’t summer, just yet, being early June, it was definitely warm enough to be out here. It was perfect. Gavin had packed a picnic basket, no joke, an actual basket, and he and Logan made sandwiches and bought some cookies, fruits, and juice boxes. I had to laugh when I pulled out the juice boxes, not gonna lie. We laid out a large blanket and placed everything out for our picnic feast. Zeus was running around chasing Logan as he laughed and tried to hide from him. Logan was happy and safe, and it was the best feeling in the world.

I was a bit afraid once I got back from my chat with Ash, but the moment Gavin saw me, he pulled me into his arms and just held me tight for a few minutes without a word. I didn’t ask questions, I just held him back, just as tight. Somehow, it was as if Gavin knew I just needed a break from all things related to the past.

“Penny for your thoughts?” He sat down behind me and pulled me in between his legs, and I allowed my head to fall back against his shoulder.
“Thank you for today. I didn’t realize how much I needed something like this, and Logan too. He seems to be at his happiest when with Zeus and you.” I smiled up at him and pressed a kiss to his neck. He bent his head a bit and kissed my forehead and lingered his lips there for a moment.

“Well, Zeus and I are at our happiest when with the both of you.” He whispered against my forehead.
We sat in silence while holding each other, watching Logan and Zeus run around. It was simple to most, but to me this was perfection, and a luxury. I thought a lot about what Ash had said in regards to telling Gavin, and how he could help us and keep us safe.

I have no doubt that he is capable of keeping us safe, it’s just, is it really fair to burden someone with so much shit? I mean, the guy never committed to anyone before, and now he’s committing to a woman, not only single but with a child. And on top of that, the tsunami that I left behind, that could potentially catch up to me and destroy everything in its way.

Would you stop for just a second, and look around to the people you have in your life! Bailey, you have people who will have your back and will do anything to keep not only you but Logan, safe. Stop being so damn stubborn and tell the man! Better you tell him than Ash getting involved! And if you think I’m a pain in the ass, she’s in a whole different kind of a pain in the ass level.

Well, when you put it that way. I’m going to tell him. I’m just going to give myself today to enjoy this. I need a breather from telling Ash this morning. Tomorrow! Fine! I’ll tell Gavin tomorrow after we put Logan to bed.

Too bad I didn’t realize the tsunami had already caught up with me…
