"Murder?! Murder for what? From who?" asked Yuna repeatedly looking back and forth at Jihoon and Soo-ah. "Do you know who he killed, or is someone just trying to frame him or something?" She shook Jihoon's arm wanting an answer.
Soo-ah sighed, "I honestly don't know, but I've heard many people saying that after the experiment went awol that Jihoon somehow killed someone and forgot about it the next morning since one of the symptoms of the drugs was memory loss." She shrugged, "All I really know is that they even found evidence that it was him so he really doesn't have anything that could defend his innocence."
Jihoon walked back and forth around the room rubbing his hands on his head not knowing what the fuck was happening at the moment. "Okay, but that can't be true! I only hunt animals though. I would never kill a person. I mean, I might beat someone up every now and then, but never kill. Then that really makes me a monster, which is the last thing that I ever want to be!"
"Yeah, I understand that, but I guess someone saw you do it. Maybe it was your parents since they were the only ones with you that night right?" Soo-ah responded, "unless there might've been someone else."
Jihoon raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Someone else? Like who?" he shrugged, "Do you think it might've been one of the other volunteers that were part of the experiment? I must've been, but how the hell would I know because I don't remember any of it!" he shouted getting stressed out. "We need to figure this out right now because this is bullshit."
Yuna took a deep breath, "Okay, calm down. All we need to do is to find whoever this person that might actually be framing you. Don't you think your parents might be hiding some kind of possible evidence about that night Jihoon?"
"I mean I don't know. I'm pretty sure they do since all they do is lie. They definitely have something, but I'm just not sure where. They have so much shit hidden everywhere so we would need to search everything thoroughly."
Yuna shrugged, "Then we should start now. Let's go!" She took Jihoon's hand and started walking out the door. "We need to make sure they're not home so that we'll have enough time to look everywhere."
Jihoon sighed rubbing the back of his neck, "This makes no sense like, I know I couldn't have killed anyone. I'm not a murderer, but Soo-ah looked really convincing." He shook his head, "I feel like I'm being framed for all of this. I know what I'm capable of and I know how to control myself enough to not kill anyone. I only hunt animals, not humans."
Yuna nodded, "I know, but she was talking about the time that the experiment first happened to you. You didn't know what you became back then, so you didn't know exactly what you were capable of yet."
He looked back at her and pushed her hand off him, "So you're saying you believe that I actually killed someone! Yuna, you believe all of this don't you?!"
"No, that's not what I'm trying to say! All I'm saying is that there is a possibility."
Jihoon scoffed, "That's exactly what you're saying Yuna! Don't you hear yourself! You basically just admitted that I could actually be a murderer! Thanks for having my fucking back!" He stormed off from her and went into his car driving back to his house. "You should call a cab. I'm gonna do this on my own now."
"Jihoon please. I'm sorry I didn't mean it. I-" He left before she could finish. She tried calling a cab, but no one answered. "What kind of service is this?" She scoffed, "My phone is about to die at any moment and there's no kind of uber or something around?" She sighed walking on the sidewalk trying to find the nearest cab or some kind of help.
Jihoon made it back home rushing to the basement to see if there was another room that he might've missed. He decided to go upstairs into their library looking throughout every bookshelf, and messing up every desk. Nothing.
"Where the hell could all this shit be?" He said to himself.
There was a statue that was of St. Michael that stood next to the fireplace of the library. He remembered when he was younger that his father usually stood next to it every night looking at something.
Walking closer to the statue He noticed that there was something odd about it. One of the eyes looked glassy than the rest of the statue. It looked like some sort of button. He pressed on it and then a drawer popped out from the base of the statue with different papers rolled up with different ribbons except two other papers. They seemed to be opened envelopes with waxed stamps on them with the initials P.H. The initials of his father.
"What the hell is this? This letter had my father's initials on it." Jihoon said as he began to open the letter.
Yuna walked up toward him and stared at the letter with him.
Some of the printing was faded and smudged. It was like it was from a typewriter.
"How old is this?" Asked Yuna as they saw the font of the lettering.
"I don't know, but it seems like it was ages ago." Jihoon shrugged realizing that it didn't make sense for his father to be alive from this sort of time period.
Yuna looked at Jihoon and asked, "Wait, how old is your dad again?"
"Old, but not old enough to have used a typewriter. I've never even seen him use one. He didn't even have one in his study. This doesn't make any sense." He shook his head.
"Hey, what if it was your grandfather? Like, he was the one who wrote this."
"My grandfather? I never even knew him, and I can barely even read the print to know what this is all about."
Yuna took the paper from him to see if she would be able to clearly read anything.
The paper was torn a little on the edges as if it's been held a thousand times. The dull brown color it was looked it was from the 1700s.
"Jihoon....?" Yuna called out sounding a bit anxious. "You should see this."
"What does it say?" He asked looking back at the paper in her hands.
"I don't think your father is your real father."
He raised an eyebrow in confusion, "What do you mean?"
Yuna turned the paper to show him the fine print.
"It's your birth certificate."
