Mitsuki was soothed by the feeling of Lillian's fingers running softly through her hair. The cabin had grown quieter these days now that Marc, Cassie, and Conny were gone. It was only a matter of time before they moved out as well, but there was always something special about these quiet nights when Wyatt was playing video games downstairs and Cherie was already asleep.

"Mm...I love your hair. It's so sleek and smooth," Lillian murmured in her half-awake trance.

"I prefer blondes," Mitsuki replied without thinking.

Lillian sat up quickly. "You what?!" This was not the sentence Mitsuki supposed Lillian wished to hear with Lillian's shade of hair appearing as a dark brown.

"I'm more attracted to blondes," Mitsuki stated simply.

Lillian was furiously staring at her hair, probably to find a nonexistent blonde highlight.

"Should I dye my hair then?" Lillian asked, almost worried.

Mitsuki laughed. "Your hair is perfect the way it is. It's a shallow preference anyway."

"And how did you come to this conclusion?" Lillian asked, placing her hands on her hips.

Mitsuki's cheeks grew flustered. "I...I liked girls before you, you know!"

"Oh, did you now?" Lillian asked, stretching out beside her again before quietly saying, "Spill."

"Hey, how come you get to know my past romantic life?!" Mitsuki exclaimed. She could tell her cheeks were blush red, and her palms had grown sweaty. There was something unnerving about speaking about her past romantic life.

"I've talked about Irene with you! I thought you didn't date before you met me," Lillian snapped.

"I didn't!" Mitsuki exclaimed.

"Then tell me the details," Lillian snapped.

"I-I don't know! Right around the time I lost my family I was shipped to a center to train. And while a lot of the boys liked to hang out with me, I really had no interest in them, which made the wheels in my head start turning. I mean, a bunch of the girls were pretty, especially the blonde ones, but there was one girl who came to the training facility when I was fifteen, I think? Her name was Mikayla."

"Tell me everything about this girl," Lillian interrupted.

"For one, she's straight, so calm down," Mitsuki snapped. "I mean, she was blonde, of course. Like that sunshine blonde that really glows in the sun. She was about half your height, so only a few inches taller than me. We were sparring partners for a while. She was a courage spiritkeeper too. And we were friends. And I had an awful crush on her not too long after our friendship began. A crush that I realized was much more than 'Oh, this person is really cool, and I want to become good friends.'"

"And?"

"And, I was too shy to say anything! We were close, but not close enough that I felt I could tell her that. She ended up dating another guy about six months later, which obviously broke my heart. We kind of split ways after that. I got unnecessarily mad, which she was always confused about. Then she left to go somewhere else," Mitsuki explained. "And soon enough I was here with Francesco."

"Aw, babe, I'm sorry," Lillian murmured.

Mitsuki giggled slightly. "You're sorry things didn't work out with her?"

"I mean, I'm sorry about the heartbreak you had to endure."

"Unlike you, I haven't had the luxury of always having my feelings reciprocated," Mitsuki murmured.

"Don't you think I was upset when Irene dumped me and began dating Miguel not long after? Maybe Mikayla or whoever was bi."

Mitsuki shrugged. "I don't think so. Whenever we spoke about relationships, it was always about guys."

"And when she asked about you?"

"I tried not to place the conversation on me about romance, and when I did speak about it, it was always incredibly vague," Mitsuki murmured. "I thought maybe she thought about me all the time like I thought about her. It was dumb. I don't think she even dated that other guy for a full three months, but it still pissed me off."

Lillian leaned down, her lips softly pressing against Mitsuki's. That sudden resurgence of frustration was gone in an instant. She had to remind herself that she had a wonderful girlfriend now, one who she could see spending her life with, easily.

"Does this mean you had a thing for Irene?" Lillian teased as she leaned over Mitsuki.

"Yuck! Hell, no! Don't even joke about that," Mitsuki snapped. She took in a deep breath, then continued. "Irene did call me attractive though."

"Shut up! She did not!" Lillian exclaimed.

"She did! That time you made me apologize to her, she said I was good-looking."

Lillian averted her gaze, clearly growing flustered. "W-Well, I mean, she's right. You're pretty attractive."

"Thanks. You are too," Mitsuki said, a smile growing on her face.

"Do you still want me to dye my hair?" Lillian asked, her fingers clutching a bit of hair again.

Mitsuki rolled her eyes. "No, but you can kiss me again."

Lillian grinned and pressed her lips against Mitsuki's once more. Mitsuki tangled her fingers through Lillian's hair, staring at its dark color through half-lidded eyes. Perhaps she preferred blondes at one point, but brunettes were starting to grow on her.
