A song to for their memories being lost.
Zhan suggested that Percy should try masking his demigod scent, but it was a fail. Percy had tried rolling in mud, splashing through creeks, even keeping air-freshener sticks in his pickets so he'd have that new car smell; but apparently demigod stink was hard to mask.
Percy scrambled to the west side of the summit, and Xiao Zhan followed him. It was too steep to descend. The slope plummeted eighty feet, straight to the rooftop of an apartment complex built into the hillside.
Fifty feet below that, a highway emerged from the hill's base and wound it's way toward Berkeley.Great. No other way off the hill. He'd manage to get them cornered.
He stared at the stream of cars flowing West toward San Francisco and wished he we're in one of them. Then he realized the highway must have cut through the hill
There must be a tunnel... right under his feet."Yo, Jackson." Zhan called to Percy. "If there's a highway here. There has to be a tunnel beneath us right?" He asked as if he'd just found out.
"I knew that before you did Zhan." I looked at him skeptically. He grinned like fool at me, 'I mean seriously, can somebody tell me how does he smile like that when we are trapped?!' Percy thought.
"My internal radar's went nuts Percy," He was still grinning. "How 'bout your's?" He asked me. I nodded. They were in the right place, just too high up. They had to check out that tunnel. He needed a way down to the highway---fast.
"If you're worried about getting us down to this. I can fly us out of here," I looked at him, stupified of what he just said. "I can fly on my sword. Remember?" Xiao Zhan sighed, annoyed that I didn't remember.
Before he could say anyhting, the gorgons appeared. They cursed.
Percy took his pen out of his pocket. The pen didn't look like much, just a refusal cheap ballpoint, but when Percy uncapped it, it grew into a glowing bronze sword.
The blade balanced perfectly. The leather grip fit into his hand like it had been custom designed for him. Etched along the guard was an Ancient Greek word that Percy somehow understood: Anaklusmos---- Riptide
He'd woken up with this sword his first night at the Wolf House with Xiao Zhan--- two months ago? More? He'd lost track. They'd found themselves in the courtyard of a burned out mansion in the middle in the middle of the woods, wearing shorts, orange T-shirt, and a leather necklace with a bunch of strange clay beads. Xiao Zhan at that time was wearing a black as night, cherry red stripes across his shoulders going down to his red sash tied around his waist. He was also wearing a red ribbon around his gir- like hair.Hey guys!! Here's the whole chapter one.
