Jaehyung's thin eyes are at sea before they get doused in recognition, then they widen until he withdraws his lips and shows teeth—a good-natured grin she's seen on anyone—anything!—but him. He further overwhelms her when he lets one lean arm wrap around her for a hug.

'Hey, it's Jaebum's kid sister. You're in college now. Not so kiddy anymore.'

Well, I was few months to eighteen back then.

Her nose hits square in his flat chest and when she draws in a purposeful breath of Brut musk and detergent, Teddy is believability flummoxed when she doesn't smell the usual backdrop of tobacco, instead there's a subtle tang of blueberries. It becomes the final nail in the coffin of Jaehyung's newfound oddity. He draws back, both rows of teeth in view with the white stick of his candy rolling between them, turning blue from the colouring. She does nothing but stare, a turbulent mass of shock with her jaw near hitting the dirt.

'What are you doing here?' she decides asking once she considers the prospect of getting a mouthful of flies.

      'Old world, huh.'

      That is oversimplifying it.

'You two know each other?' Jackson's voice is deep and smooth yet demands to be acknowledged. As much as she wants to ask him the same question, Teddy doubts he's known Jaehyung for as long as she has, even if length of time should be out of it. Jackson might know more about him than she does.

Asking for a lollipop? They've left first base.

'Chill friends. We met through a mutual one.'

Oh, we're friends now? Teddy is shocked, recalling how he used to have a real hard time showing it. Unaided, Jaehyung would have this way of putting across that she was never one of them—the cool kids—never speaking to her except she kicked off a starter. Her existence wasn't embraced by him.

Jackson mumbles something that sounds like 'Nice' and Jaehyung proceeds with his animate character, talking with ebullience. It's unlike anything she's seen before. Jaehyung doesn't seem to care if they listen or not, even though he's always been sure of himself.

'To answer your question, I got a text about some get-together and I was bored. Sitting in a cold apartment all by myself just wasn't cutting it.' He looks at Jackson. 'Got any suckers?'

Jackson tells him he doesn't and Teddy watches tiny eyes do the impossible and double in size. Jaehyung pulls the blue ball from his mouth just to shove it back in. Who knew the Park Jaehyung could get so forlorn at the idea of his candy supply running out? (To think he's even got some stashed up somewhere. In his cold apartment.)
