Chapter Twenty-Six: This Is It {Ellie}
"Ellie, Ellie, Ellie," Sebastian sings, waking me as he walks into my room. I open my eyes, seeing him grinning like a loon. "Guess where we're going, E?" Wiping a hand down my face and then through my rats-nest hair, I raise a brow, questioning him. "Pack your stuff, we're going to the lake. Mom rented us a cabin for the weekend."
The lake? Now?
"What time are we leaving?" I ask.
"As soon as we're all up and ready. Cole's already left to his house to get his stuff." Just his name brings a blush to my face, and as Sebastian's face transforms into a smirk, I know he isn't going to let it go. "Don't worry, you'll be riding with loverboy." He winks before leaving the room, the door shutting behind him.
Cole.
I picture his strong jawline, dark hair, and lean form. He's easily a whole head taller than me, as I only come up to his jawline, and though I'm definitely not the smallest girl, his form is double the size of mine, the only difference is that his is all pure muscle. The thought of his shirtless form has another wave of blood rushing towards my cheeks, his chiseled abs and v-line prominent on his torso. And his eyes... Beautiful, steely gray eyes that seem to grasp me and keep me frozen every time he looks my way.
I shake Cole from my mind, getting out of bed and heading for my closet. I'd be easier to just go ahead and pack before I even get ready, that way it's out of the way and done when we're ready to leave. I pull my suit case out, grabbing my swimsuit, a few pairs of shorts, shirts, undergarments, and all my hygiene items.
Once I'm done, I head for the bathroom, showering and changing into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. As I lug my bag down the stairs, I pause as Cole comes into my vision. He stands leaning against the counter, a bottle of water in his hand as he laughs at Asher and Sebastian.
It's the first time I've seen him smile and laugh so... openly, so care-free. He looks as though he doesn't have a care in the world. White teeth shining, his tongue darts out to lick his lips quickly, before he bites the bottom one in laughter. The action sends a wave of crimson to my cheeks, and I force my eyes away.
"Ready?" Scarlet asks, coming up behind me as she, too, pulls her bag along with her. I nod, giving her a smile that I hope drags her attention away from the blush on my face. "Well," she begins, addressing the rest of the group standing in the kitchen. "We're ready." Her arm loops through mine as she smiles.
Cole's eyes shoot to mine, scanning my body in a once-over quickly. Suddenly, I feel like I can shoot electricity from my fingers.
"Come on," she begins, tugging softly.
As we all head outside, I spot a black truck, clearly expensive and obviously suited up. I frown as someone grabs my bag from behind, pulling it free of my grasp. Cole keeps walking as I stop, his back to me as he glances over his shoulder. He slings both mine and his bags over into the bed of the truck, pulling a set of keys from his pocket afterwards.
"This is yours?" I ask. He nods, pulling open the passenger door.
I didn't picture Cole as a truck guy. He was driving that black Dodge Charger before.
The exterior of the truck matches the Charger, both black and shiny, clearly taken care of.
"You gonna get in some time today?" Sebastian grins, hopping into the back seat as he passes me. Shaken from my daze, I nod, and get into the truck. An amused Cole shuts the door behind me, walking around to his side of the vehicle.
"So what happened to the Charger?" I ask, glancing at Cole.
He starts the truck as his eyes flicker toward me. "It's at my place."
