The car ride was incredibly, oh really, I mean extremely uncomfortable. At least for the lethargic 26 year old adult, who was busy spending the past half an hour biting her recently trimmed fingernails, stemming from her right hand.

The tip of her nails were touching the exterior surface of her dry chapped lips, which had shown semi-visible signs of breakage within the area that was openly exposed to the cold air coming from the air conditioner in the car. It was seemly like she was dehydrated, never have been taking even a sip of plain old water.

While in reality, it was close to the statement. However, leaving behind a fact...whereby the only beverage that has entered her system was coffee, a whole dose of caffeine.

Amongst the regular silence that has been accompanied by the car radio, she coughed. Ever since today, there had been a some sort of lump felt somewhere in the realms of her dry throat. Gradually getting worse, with now reaching the peak. Leading her to the sudden coughs that she successfully failed to conceal through covering it with both of her hands.

"Urmm...ahem—"Jack faked a cough that was neither too soft nor loud, but hearable enough to catch her attention.

With his eyes still on the road and one hand on the steering wheel, he held out a mineral water bottle to her that he had taken from the cup holder. She gazed at him warily while still trying to suppress the urge to cough again.

"To ease your worries, it's brand new and unopened." He spoke like he knew what thoughts were going through her mind at this point of time.

"Okay, thank you then..." Megan flusteredly said as she hesitantly grabbed the bottle and started drinking a fair amount of water.

She slowly drank the water, while thinking about how he read her that easily. Was it that obvious? She should have attempted to make it less...you know obvious.

Even though she felt bad about having such 'suspicions'. Plus he's her cousin's friend. It was just a habit, she was never that trusting with people in the first place.

Anyway, she still appreciated his act of kindness. Or more like an act of service through the Bros' promise. If he didn't, she would have suffer all the way back to his house. And in all certainty, she would have a thousands of regrets in not asking for help due to her 'unfortunate' trait of a personality.

"Oh yeah, don't spill any water in my car. Because you'll be cleaning it."

Okay......Perhaps she would have to retract that judgement of a statement back.

Well, that was a shorter ride than expected.

Right before entering his residence through the car, there was a large gate at the entrance. She knew that he was rich, being a CEO and all. But she never realised that his wealth would be more than what she had expected.

Standing by the red painted door with all her stuff by her side, she looked at his house, it was a mansion. She was at a loss for words, however, not showing it out visually. Her house that she owned, was just a fairly alright apartment to her at least. You thought that with her success in her previous and first work, she would have accumulated a larger sum of earnings.

Unfortunately reality is kind of an ass, with the publishing company being a blood-sucker in profits. A shitty situation but she honestly didn't care much. She was never a fighter in her own rights, thinking that it would be a measly waste of trouble to go through such a thing. Besides, the income was enough to sustain her boring lifestyle. So that's all theres to it.
