"Coming to the rehearsal?" Jack asked Ben, not bothering to take even a slightest glance at Megan.
How infuriating for her that he treated her existence as pretty much non-existent?
"Nahh...You already have a drummer, will be back when she's gone." He gave a bored reply, while directing a not so fierce glare at Carla.
"Relax bud, I'm not taking your spot, just being here for two shows only."
"But you could if you wanted to!" He exclaimed annoyingly.
Carla was always backing up for Jack in his live shows, and it was just that this time, conflicting schedules had risen. More like she was planning to take a break from the drums, resulted to needing a substitute and that's when Ben comes in.
He was not actually pissed in being a replacement, in fact, he was delighted to help.
Getting an opportunity for a new and temporary change of scenery in the working environment, with drumming, what else could he asked for? Admin and management work had been a huge drag for him.
"And I didn't, because of this young one beside me. Am I right? Little Jack?" She playfully putted her right shoulder over Jack's, after doing a jump to reach his height, causing him to flinch and slouched down with his arms crossed.
"I'm not the Little Jack." He glowered at the nickname, forming a frown on his face as he spoke.
The nickname didn't belong to him, instead, to his good friend and bandmate, Jack Lawrence.
He hated being called by someone he was not, especially if it belonged to a special someone like his friend.
"I know, I know. The real one is busy being somewhere." She grinned cheekily at his quick denial.
Oh grumpy Jack, who likes all things to be in order and categorisation in it's rightful place. For everything to stick by it's lane and under controlled, just like his work.
Megan stood awkwardly beside Ben, observing the three's interactions with each other. Based on her observation, they looked like to be having good relations with each other. Making her to feel the urgency to get out of there.
Many voices in her head were telling her to leave. She felt like she didn't belonged there, a disruption to their natural flow of conversations.
Hiding it herself that the true reason of her feeling of discomfort was because with the closeness the woman shared with Jack. Not only because of the man who was the catalyst to her emotions running amok.
Keeping herself up her toes, all just because of him, and that was when she noticed the elevator coming down to their level.
An idea had occurred in her mind.
An impromptu escape plan that may be successful, but it's worth a try than doing nothing.
The creeping urge to disappear was accumulating in her.
Come on come on, please open up soon!
She clenched her teeth tightly, secretly wishing for the elevator to open it's doors soon. The thought of getting caught red handed, trying to do something cowardice was an even major embarrassment.
Fortunately, the others were still busy indulging in a conversation, not noticing her frantic self pressing her fingers against the buttons. All except one whose been focusing their attention on her.
"Going somewhere?"
Megan flinched for a moment, before turning behind to face at the familiar voice directing at her.
