Lance saw Avery on the couch looking at the ceiling,he sat beside him"hey,Avery?"
Avery looked to Lance and nodded"you don't have to answer me but why do you stare at people?"Avery started to stare again before shaking his head"I-it's a tick in a way."
Lance tilted his head"tick?"Avery nodded"I-it happens sometimes though it only gets uncomfortable when I'm stressed."Lance looked to the ground"so you stare at someone for a second or two normally?"Avery nodded.
"Why?"Avery glanced away"it's a way that I assure myself I won't loose someone I guess."Lance bit his lip"I-I didn't want to loose Faith and I thought she went missing so I started to stare again,I'm sorry I can control it if you want-"
Lance hugged Avery"you don't have to,we love you no matter what Avery!"Avery smiled softly and hugged back"but..why were you scared of loosing someone?"
Avery pulled away"well..I remember my old parents,I even had a little brother.i didn't realize how short my time was with them so I guess I developed this staring technique to make sure I'm going to remember them when they leave."
Lance sighed sadly"no one is ever going to leave,Avery."Avery bit his lip"no,you're wrong.everyone leaves,even if they promise not to."Lance opened his mouth to say something then Avery cut in"don't even try to deny it,everyone and everything leaves and I'm tired of it."
Lance held Avery's chin"Avery.."Avery stood up"it's nothing,ok?you don't have to give me a speech,just mind your business."Avery then turned and went upstairs.
Avery's words replayed in Lance's mind everyone leaves.
